Hey everyone. Was wondering if there's some way for me to use shortcuts in my Start Menu to launch non-Steam games through the service, that way I get the overlay and stuff? It's kind of annoying waiting for Steam open it's menus for me to access the non-Steam games I've added to my Library.

Right click the game of your choice in steam and select Create Desktop Shortcut which will create a shortcut for you to move anywhere you want (like the start menu). By default steam create's a url shortcut with no icon, if you want to change the icon just right click the shortcut, click change icon, and browse to the game's .exe and select that to change the icon.

I have Windows 8 (assumed you had 7). For windows 8 you would go to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs and paste the shortcut there, go to Apps view, right click the link, select Pin to Start.

I'm not sure how 10 handles everything but you could try the above. I don't know if it'll work but still it's worth a shot.

Nice, that worked like a charm! The only issue I'm seeing is that Windows won't let me apply an icon to the shortcut. Otherwise it seems fine. Thanks again ^^

It's some security BS Windows put in (because... windows). Browse to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\, right click Programs, select the Security tab, click Edit, go to your account (Steven for ex.), click Full Control, hit OK, and you can change the icon now.
