Um, yeah probably. Each console has its own storage keys which you'll need a full ARM kernel exploit to get, but once you do, they never change and you can decrypt any external media as you please. Depends on how corrupted it is, one wrong byte can throw the whole chunk off, but anything after should still work. IIRC a chunk is like 0x200 bytes or something and from my tests with Splatoon it has an allocation for 0x10000 so should be mostly recoverable for most games. Only downside is it won't work on another console since it'll have its own keys, even if you do a system transfer.
It's okay since I'm using the same console, just with another hard drive, I still have the flash drive and an image I created after the corruption just in case. if I can recover a few games it will be worth the wait and the lack of online Splatoon xP

I mean it's not like most people can use it anyways :^) as I said before 99% of the functions we have at our disposal even from userspace aren't documented. Get to it, young'uns.
I've been meaning to poke at audio too but college stuff is destroying any motivation I have right now. Should be really simple to get a basic media player up and running.

So 5.4.0 users won't be able to use the now patched kernel exploit once it's out but 5.3.2 will be since there also is a released browser exploit?

Kinda sucks if that is true because all the "5.4.0 update is safe" statements were therefore nonsense in regards to the public. Any decent solutions? :/
None of the "kernel-team" members said that 5.4.0 is safe!
Everytime someone asked (which was a lot) it was told to always stay on the lowest fw possible and to only update if you really needed to!
(for getting Xenoblade Chronicles and cygwin not working in my case!)

The votes in favor of updating were much higher than the ones for staying on a lower firmware, lol. This probably misled some people. I didn't update voluntarily though, it auto-updated for me.

The 5.4.0 userspace exploit will be released after being somewhat stabilized. The kexploit that works up to 5.4.0 will also be released because it was patched.

I almost fell in nintendo's trap ^^, yesterday I received this free splatoon testfire from nintendo which would allow me to download and play splatoon online for a week or so even though I don't have the game. I was gonna connect my Wii U to the internet to download it yesterday if I weren't busy with other things ^^'.

the votes in favor were so people could play splatoon. That was pretty much the only reason. There is an exploit for 5.4, just not going to be released for a while. That has always been the case.

After the 5.3.2 exploit is released, if anyone able to use it has Smash U, and ALSO has at least one game update installed, please let me know. I'll finish the .nus3bank builder tonight so you guys can at least do custom music.

If you wanna load custom textures and such, I'll need to help you load custom patches, at least until Dantarion's SD loader is finished.

We could also use more researchers, especially for modeling.

What kind of research do you need for modeling ?
I'm not super good at coding, but I have a good experience in 3D modeling, texturing, rendering.

Edit : I'm on 5.4.0 so I guess I'm not what you're looking for ? or is this can be done on a computer only ?

This update was kinda useless, isn't?
Well at least I don't have that stub icon anymore, probably saved some internal space (although pretty small)

This whole Wii U Homebrew scene really blows. Each time a new exploit is found there's a update patching it. Gee, I wonder how that is possible. It's not like they're publicly discussing the inner workings of it.

I've lost my faith in this "team". I miss the Wii days when people advised AGAINST updating until EVERYTHING was confirmed working.

This time it was destiny Nintendo has figured out what the kernel exploit was. Same with the exploit of the 5.3.2FW. But still, there's another kernel exploit that seems to be unpatched. Same for the latest webkit exploit. And if I have understood it correctly, there are 2 more potentially exploitable kernel bugs.

I still believe in the team. For me it appears like a "race" between the team and Nintendo and so far the team is quite a bit ahead :p
