We don't know yet but MN1 is reverse engineering OSv11 right now to see what's changed as it, the browser and 11 other titles have been modified.

Updates aren't always a bad thing, it might reveal some exploits they fixed which then could lead to an exploit for a previous version.

It's a euphemism for blocking exploits, just don't update until we know.

I can't confirm whether the other kernel exploit still works. It's impossible to do through reverse engineering, and I'll need to test on 5.5.0.

Well, Wii U is unplugged, hopefully 5.5.0 wasn't installed yet. Don't want to be losing out on this when it does release.

Because I haven't did the DNS Block thing, but I have configured my Wii U to not download data while off.
And right now, it is still at 5.4.0

Uh, yeah, considering people are turning off their internet connections. If you're on 5.4.0 you don't have the update yet.
