Model: Eee PC 901

Processor: Intel Atom, CPU N270 @ 1.60 GHz * 2
Memory: 991,2 MB
Graphics Card: Intel Corp Mobile 945GSE Express Integrated Graphics Controller (Rev 03)
Storage: 6,4 GB (+ another one with 3 GBs, I think)

As of now the notebook has Elementary OS v0.2 Luna but thought someone here might recommend a more lightweight OS if it exists.

I totally forgot about Puppy Linux. I'll be giving it a shot.

And as FAST recommended as well as you did, I'll be installing it on P4 machines I have.

If you put more RAM in it, it should run Windows 7 fairly well. :)

Thier are a lot weirder names like satanic, Christian, Hannah Montana, apartheid and damn vulnerable
I'm aware of the Christian and Hannah Montana (saw these two on the other GBATemp topic) but gotta check out the others you listed on YouTube.

Crunchbang++. My old Crunchbang install idles at ~120MB RAM.
Anything running MATE really.
If you can scarify convenience, get one with only a WM and setup the rest yourself.

I had to double check that your processor would support booting from USB properly, but since it seems to have XP installed as default, you have a legacy BIOS system which will let you boot anything from USB. Some Intel Atom devices (Such as one I own) have EFIs that are screwy.

Anyways, most linux distros run quite nicely, and since you have the option of adding more RAM, Ubuntu and Linux Mint are both very nice options for Linux-based OSes. I haven't tried any others as of yet though, but I've heard a lot of praise for Crunchbang. Additionally, if you're fine with it, there's also Android x86 if it's compatible with your system. The most recent stable release was for 4.4.4.

X86 android is pretty awful on a desktop since it is made for tablets and phones

I've seen stores that sold Android-based AIOs that had touchscreens. Seemed rather useless though, I'd rather my Android devices be portable.
Me too plus its better just to have a Linux Os on a desktop since that is what it's made for and x86 Android isn't as good as arm Android

Yeah, I've heard that there's not many apps that are designed for x86 Android as most Android devices are ARM-based. I heard that Ubuntu has a version for tablets and phones now, I wouldn't mind trying that if I had the chance.

Well its still shaky but you can put regular Ubuntu on it since it has touch screen support and thier are ways to put other Linux distros on Android arm

Is this serious? 6,4GB is barely enough to install a modern OS nowadays.

Elementary OS is nice but last time I checked it lacked many features that a linux OS is expected to have. I would recommend Linux Mint LXDE 32-bit.
LXDE is one of the most lightweight linux GUI out there and Linux Mint is fast and easy to use.

I have used Damn Small Linux before but I found it to be not as user-friendly. But it might be the best option to save hard drive memory
