They are extremely up to date because there's no movement in the scene. Not very up to date.

It's been discussed in this thread a couple times. There will most likely never be a homebrew channel on the wiiu. It requires more than an IOSU kernel exploit. There will be a homebrew launcher of sorts, but it will be accessed via the web browser, rather than a custom channel. And then the next level is a wiiu emunand...Is someone making a homebrew channel for 5.3? Is just that i want to update because this homebrew scene is slow and it doesnt look like it is having a great future

What homebrew are you looking for, exactly? It can't be a homebrew channel itself, can it?Then i guess im going to update
I already imagine retroarch running perfecly. It couldn't be less good than the ps3/360.So it requires more than IOSU exploit? like filesystem encryption cracking for example?? I hope to see in the future some "WUD installer" to the HDD itself (like CIA installer for 3DS).
The WiiU system has potential, it's just sad how everyone is ridiculing "the WeeWee" power compared to current gen consoles.
I am still optimistic about the console's future and how hacking will fully utilize its power and transform it to a real entertainment station capable of playing movies, running WiiUSX and retroarch at full speed.. etc. Maybe finally hombrews can do what Nintendont !
It's a great hobby the devs have working on this. I've been following the progress for months and am running 5.3.2 trying out the homebrew samples.
For a long time the wiiu was gather dust in the house on a really old v3 firmware. Once the go ahead was given to go to 5.3.2 we updated and we started playing it again.
Everyone was playing multi-player splatoon and mario kart with the DLC and online play. Great fun. The thing is, since the 5.4 updated was released, I pulled the internet connection. It's gathering dust again and I'm getting it in the neck every day "when can we play online again and get the new splatoon dlc".
To marionmber1, NWPlayer123, MrBean, Hykem et al. would you have a vague guess as to when(if?) firmware spoofing and online play might be coming to 5.3.2 or would you just recommend it's best to get a second console to enjoy both homebrew and online/dlc play?
I agree. Look at Android. The games are at the point where the hack doesn't really even exist anymore due to online and updates. I think the days of Homebrew on a console are very limited. PC is another story all together. A 2nd Wii U is the answer for those facing issues on waiting. The daily pressure felt here would be enough to make me walk away. Most people are patient but these constant questions about updating and when the hack will happen are obsessive. I would love to see something happen but I'm enjoying Splatoon, SS4 and MK8 in the meantime.
Personally for the hacking scene I am only looking for a method to backup and play backup games from an external hard drive. I don't care about the piracy of having to download over 10gb per game, I just want my disks to not get damaged from being played too much or by careless handling from my younger relatives.

Agreed... My 4 year old son alreadyUsnapped super mario bros u in half trying to remove the disc from the case... I felt so bad, because it was his favorite game at the time... But i have a feeling we are a long time from this reality, if ever...
