Okay, so I've come to understand that Sky3DS users are being banned for using a Sky3DS, then I started to see info on "headers" and such. If someone would be so kind, I would like some questions answered.

What is a Header (Both in code in the template file, and how it looks in a 3DS Menu)?
What is the difference between a private header and a public header (In code and visually on device)?
Given that I'm going to use the provided updated Sky3DS Template, how can I best avoid being banned on v.9.8 on a "New" 3DS XL?

It would bring a tear to my eye if someone could answer these questions coherently. If said person also provided pictures, I would cry.

Thanks.

A header contains a Unique Identifier and eeprom info, and chip info

Difference between private and public:
Public means several people will be playig online using the same unique id
private is only one person using it (you)

See the problem there... The ID is unque, so there's one per gamecard.. yet several are playing that gamecard at once...

Best avoid bans?
Extract a header from a game you own and use it on all of your games (with a tool like NoBanNoSky to patch the template)

I have a thread which answers some common header questions

Well, I don't have a Sky3DS, so I can't answer most of your questions, but a public header is a header that is released with the publically released rom (scene releases). If you use that rom, Nintendo can "see" that there are numerous people using the same rom, in turn the same "public" header.

A private header is a header that you have dumped personally from a privately owned legit game. Basically what you can do is buy ANY CHEAP 3DS game, dump it's header, and put that extracted "private" header (private coz only YOU own that legit game) inside your .3DS rom. This way, Nintendo "sees" that you're unique and using a unique header and hence won't ban you :)

So essentially what I have to do is take one of my own 3DS games, extract its header using NoBanNoSky, then use that header on literally all template files?
Lemme provide a hypothetical/real world scenario here, I used to own multiple 3DS games and a first gen 3DS, about a year back I gave that to one of my buds. What you're all saying is that I can take just one of those games, hopefully a game he doesn't play frequently so I can trash it, then take its header file and use it on ALL game templates I load? I want to make sure my buddy, who's using a legit 3DS and buying all his games traditionally, won't see any repercussions of my actions. Also, If someone could provide some photos and clear instructions on how to work with the NoBanNoSky program and just how to specifically adjust my template, that would be fantastic as I want to ensure that I don't take any risks making mistakes that could get me banned.

Thanks.

I do understand that pictures and step-by-step instructions will be a bit of a hassle, but I would greatly appreciate it.

Well, NoBanNoSky is only used to patch the template file

There's a couple methods of extracting headers:

1. Using a 9.2 or lower 3ds and the gateway launcher to dump a game
2. buying a header, or buying a game for someone else to extract
3. powersaves (this is way more expensive than the above option, and it is only recommended for people who already own one.

But I would have to trash the 3DS game after using it's header because if I were to get online using that cartridge, I would get banned. Right?

Also, does the game header matter whether or not the original 3DS game had online capabilities? Say, use a LoZ: OoT 3DS header for playing online on Smash Bros. AND Monster Hunter?

You can use the header from any game (offline games too)
(this was also explained in that thread i linked)

And its recommended against playing online with the same header on two different consoles at the same time
(for example, a sky game and the retail cart being played at the same time)
But, most people who do this say they don't have any issues

Aye, So basically a header is Nintendo's way of checking if two exact copies of a game are being used at the exact same time. Okay, so now how would I insert the custom header into my template? Like, how and where?

For reference, I'm gonna take the header of a legit 3DS game, apply that same header across my entire template for all games, then trash the legit 3DS game to ensure that nobody gets banned.

but can someone confirm that I can indeed do what I said I'm gonna do and it works effectively?

Also, someone please answer the question about "How do Template".

NoBanNoSky will patch the template with your private header once you have it extracted.

Note : Games have more than 2gb of data like Monster Hunter ... will make the dump game from gateway emu split by 2,3, you have to use a program to combine it then extract the header

Thanks for your input, but is that relevant to Sky3DS users?

So I can use one legit header code on all the template files because I will only be playing one at a time, correct?

EDIT: I think Weighted Portal Cube confirmed with literally his first post that I can use one header on all games. My bad.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Hmm okay. Does anybody know a reliable site where I can buy a header?

I don't think I have the technology to extract a header myself...

Most reliable would be to find someone with a 9.2 or lower 3ds and meet up with them (Bring a laptop :P). Have them rip one of your games and cut paste the file to you.

Or hit up a regular here who's offered the service before. Riskier than the first, but more likely.

You only need one.

I can dump your header for you!

From another thread. Could hit him up. See what he's offering exactly. :P

Edit: Here's another person offering in another thread recently.

You can go online. But if you use their default template you're at high risk of a ban. You'll need your own private header to be as safe as possible. You can get the header either by ripping it from your own game using a Powersave or a 3DS with a firmware of 9.2 or below. If you don't have either of those, then you can send me (or anyone else willing) a message and I'd be willing to help you out by ripping one for you.

Alright, thanks. I'll see what I can do to come up with some headers. I may come back later with some questions about implementing said headers into a template file.

Thanks, folks!
