I have a Gateway 3DS. sysNAND is 4.5, emuNAND is the latest version 9.8 or whatever. Everything has worked great so far, ROMs run without issues and I've learned what a .cia is and how to install them. The one thing I noticed is that Virtual Console doesn't work, which I now understand is a limitation of the card. My question: is there a solution for Gateway users to get GBA and other VC games working? I'm trying to figure out if this is a feature of rxTools, and if it's possible for me to install that using the Gateway card.

Using Ninhax and Pasta CFW on 9,2 here.

Before doing the exploit I had Mii Plaza with all 4 additional (were they 4? Can't remember) installed. But of course, for the exploit to run, I had to format my SD, deleting all of them. Now unfortunately I'm not able to even download Mii Plaza, since I need to update my Firmware to get it.

Can I install Mii Plaza like I would any other CIA? Where can I find it? Is it against the rules to ask for help in finding a download for something free?

I've looked on google but I can't seem to find any downloads for this.

I posted this under the Gateway section, but I think it should go under this noob paradise :D cause well I'm a noob on this scene.

==========================================================
Hi all, I've been looking everywhere for an answer but I have not found it (not sure if it is too obvious) but I wanted to ask here before making a new post
(Noob Section - i'manoob)

--Background--
So I tested my luck in buying a random New 3ds XL off of eBay and it came with 9.0.0 s/n QW1029.. (Hurrah !!!) (Updated to 9.2 to play my SSB game) So I ordered a 128gb evo ($25 on eBay) and a Gateway card, (which is on the way) But since on the new 3ds xl latest version for emuNand is 9.5(working) I have a few questions.

--Question--
1. Will I be able to play online (.3dz w/ my own header) on emunand 9.5?

2. I see that on PastaCFW you can install/spoof the eshop (PastaCFW ONLY) is this a method to allow online play or only access eshop - any similar method on gateway?
I really don't care for the eshop access, but I do not know if it conflicts with playing online games - or if one needs the other.

3. I have a store-bought Smash cartridge, I already downloaded the Smash Bros 1.0.8 update cia file as well as the DLC cia file (Yeah.. not paying 30$ for 3 new characters when the entire game was that much) ...anyways, If I dump my own SSB game and move it over to my gateway card, then on emunand 9.5
I install the SSB update CIA then the DLC CIA file, will I then be able to play SSB online? or still will not be able to since I am on a non-latest emuNand version?

Not sure if these are simple questions or not. Thank you in advance for the help.

Not an expert, but I think I can answer.
As far as I've noticed, the online play for games doesn't seem to be tied to the firmware of the actual console. I'm on 9,2 and I've been able to play online in more than one game, so it works as long as that game has the latest update released.

I'm also going to suppose that if you have a gateway, you could just run Ninjhax and see for yourself with PastaCFW.

Don't know about SSB, for some reason that's the only game I haven't been able to start despite updating it.

... Wait, by saying that since I have gateway I could run nunjhax and see for my self w/ pastacfw... does that mean I can actually install pastacfw on gateway's emunand? of were you going a different way?

--EDIT---
I actually never thought of that.. is that actually possible?

I don't have a gateway, so I have no clue on how it works. But PastaCFW doesn't really install, every time you restart your system you have to restart Pasta.
But by having a Gateway that can run Cubic Ninja, I suppose you should be able to launch the homebrew app, and therefore start Pasta.

I actually own the actual game (cubic ninja) cartridge.. I thought that pastaCFW was something you installed completely on the sysnand and replaced it.. like a PS3 cfw (maybe I shoudlnt of had compared) ... so pastaCFW is just like an application you run via cubic nunja? or does it really modify the sysnand?

I've asked before, and apparently no, it can't be permanently installed. Don't remember why, but it made sense.

According to the gateway3ds update page, the new 3.2.2 beta release includes support for the 9.8 system firmware. I was meandering around youtube for tutorials, and I noticed ne where they began to use the flashcart by going to a specific website(go.gateway-3ds.com and another one was offered as well) but my 3ds was unable to connect to the site. I've read about a zelda OOT or cubic ninja exploit, but am I at a point of no return?

ps. I assumed my 3DS was at a lower firmware, but I guess I mistakingly updated a while back. It's on firmware 9.4.4 if I remember correctly.

Thank you so much for any help guys, it means a lot.
Unfortunately, the support mentioned is for emuNand. The 3.2.2 Gateway software can emulate firmware up to 9.8 (on the Old 3DS, 9.5 on the New 3DS), but the system itself cannot be above 9.2. Unless you have previously made a backup of your NAND, there is no way to downgrade your system. At this point, your options would be to either get a Sky3DS, or to get a 3DS system with a lower system version.

Hi guys, how do I go about updates with my .cia games? One of my games has four updates available (V1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4), so can I install straight 1.4? Or each one separately?
Installing the 1.4 update will include all previous updates. Each update replaces the previous one, normally.

I've asked before, and apparently no, it can't be permanently installed. Don't remember why, but it made sense.
The bootloader will only load system software with a valid signature. A permanent install wouldn't have a valid signature, so it wouldn't load. The Chain of Trust is still intact, until an exploit allows you to break it. That's why there can't be any permanent modifications to the system software. Until either the bootloader can be altered (which I think is stored in ROM and not alterable) or the CFW can be signed (which isn't going to happen without access to Nintendo's private keys), only official firmwares can be booted.

Just got a 9.0 N3DS XL, just wondering how fellow members put files on the microsd card. Do you leave the backplate unscrewed or something? It's fairly annoying to have to unscrew the backplate every time you want to access the microsd card. Is there a better way of going about this?
