Ninja Theorys have just debuted their first independent title since leaving SCE. A spiritual successor to Heavenly Sword; Hellblade seems to feature a much darker protgonist and setting. Checkout the following trailer and let us know what you think of this brand new IP:

Not much hype.
Heavenly Sword was pretty shit and only moved copies because it was the only game the PS3 even had.
Ninja Theory hasn't really done much else besides DMC apparently, which admittedly was alright, if a bit lacking in the gameplay department.

For a moment I was excited...

Then I realised this wasn't about witchblade (I misread, okay?). :(

Don't know heavenly sword, so it could be me, but this trailer doesn't show much new or interesting (yeah, yeah...you play as a nutcase. it's been done), let alone what it's about.

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West was really good, and criminally forgotten as well.

I'm actually playing Heavenly Sword for the first time right now. It's fun so far, but not absolutely amazing. The different stances are cool, but I'm not a fan of the clone God of War art style or some of the button mapping (dodging on the right stick, camera limited to motion/triggers).

Odyssey was alright, but nothing i'd write home about. It was a "this was a decent rental" for me.

For me, it was one of the few games that I kept playing for the story. The gameplay was mostly nothing super special, but I thought it was a nice suite of well-executed gameplay types that were fun and functional enough to keep me invested and move the story along. Plus I'm a sucker for two-button action games.

That said, I only paid like $5 for it, so maybe I'd feel differently if I spent $60.
