...futureproof? If I have patched a game for region free, can a future update disable the region free on the cartridge?

I mean using the cubic ninja exploit so the cart is now region free.To my understanding it patches a mod so the game can be read by any 3DS hence region free.
My question is, can Nintendo patch it so that the cart is no longer region free or is it futureproof? (Futureproof = NO MATTER WHAT NINTENDO DOES, IT WILL ALWAYS WORK)

iirc regionfour does nothing to your game cart. It just launches the out-of-region game.

You install the exploit on the Cubic Ninja card so you don't have to find the QR code every time. (To show nothing installed on your out-of-region game, try restarting your 3DS then attempting to play the out-of-region cartridge without doing anything with Cubic Ninja).

Futureproof? No. RegionFOUR can be blocked by Nintendo tomorrow.

As long as you stay on fw 9.8 and below you should be able to launch out-of-region games using regionFOUR (well, preferably on fw 9.2, so that you can do more interesting stuff).
