Hard-modding, console hacking... Professional (as in registered and giving you legal receipts with warranty and all)... In the Netherlands (or in Germany if it was the case)...
For some reason I can only imagine that person in jail. Maybe I am too paranoid.

There are in The Netherlands, I know at least two websites who are registered as an official store who advertise with methods on pirating games on their websites.

Still, sending people over to "fix" it is real life threatening.
No such thing should happen to anyone.

I mean, not everyone can just go out and just magically be amazing at soldering... I think a better answer would be just to not send your 3DS to someone who has no proof that they have done this before

You're right but you can always practice on some old hardware sitting around, junked stereo or pc components. I taught myself really and ever since I've been soldering car alarm wires, reflowing car relays, a samsung lcd monitor power supply, etc...etc..

Self taught, self satisfaction.

Perhaps you are not good at that, perhaps you have other things to do, perhaps you are just not interested in doing it yourself, who knows, perhaps you just hate messing with electronics.
Even so, in this world of specialization, why would it be wrong to let someone else do that for you and pay for the job?
It is only logical, you just pay for a service to someone that wants to provide that service.
If one dishonest person messes up with you, it is no reason to go full paranoid.
But the hell, why being dishonest?... such a shame...

Than understand the risk of shipping something across the country, or another state, to get it done. Thats always been my concern when shipping a device to anyone knowing that this device is special in a way that you will probably not be able to find another in the exact same form.
