So, I tried to install CFW on my v4.5 3ds and when I run run.bat with IP adress 192.168.0.17, I cannot get the BigBlueMenu into my 3ds.
I watched the tutorial video in OP and I followed. After exiting internet browser, I don't get the message new software has been added.
I tried from step 8 3 times and nothing worked.
Also, I did not get message to format softwares when I went to data management in settings.
Anyone could help me on this problem?

Edit1: Ummm... actually nevermind. I fixed it myself within 5 minutes of posting this. I basically made title.db . But since this didn't work, I tried making the other .db file. Then, software format appeared, formatted, and installation of savedatafiler worked.

Probably because GW uses a hardware exploit to remove all of the checks and stuff but cfw is simply a software exploit, you may have noticed that the GW card doesn't actually have a .3ds rom on it like the last gen flashcards did (for .nds) it boots by reading and exploiting the hardware on the card, why do you think it requires you to insert the GW card before booting emunand? if it was merely out of profit someone would have found a work around by now but i could be wrong.

It's officially a DRM dongle. They easily could have it boot without it. They just want profit.

Yeah i figured that out after posting, it seems they have encrypted the launcher.dat which requires to run with the red card inserted if using emunand, any modification would result in the 3ds getting bricked due to the code they purposely put into it.

Pretty much this. All you're really paying for is the code, but they've used Smealum's Ninjhax exploit without crediting him whatsoever. There's also the infrequent updates.

  1. Is possible to have 7.2 system NAND and the latest EmuNAND only?
  2. I can see rxTools is capable of 9.6 EmuNAND, any guides on doing this?
  3. With my retail cart of Pokemon Omega Ruby, do I play it under EmuNAND and would it be online capable?
  4. After doing this, can you uninstall everything like EmuNAND and return to a stock system?
Thanks.

1.) Yes, all you need to do is install the DS profile exploit, then launch the gw launcher.dat using the DS profile exploit, make a NAND backup just in case of anything, then choose the "format emunand" option in the gw launcher. Once that's done you put the rxTools files on your SD card root (firmware.bin generated by cdn_firm.exe, rxTools.dat, and slot0x25KeyX.bin [this file is not part of rxTools, and I believe is technically illegal to share, so google will be your friend). With the required files on your SD root, you go to the url specified in the rxTools thread (http://launch.rxTools.net I believe) on your 3DS' internet browser and it will load the rxTools menu, where you can boot into rxMode. Once you boot into rxMode, go to system settings and make sure your firmware version begins with Rx-E, then without exiting the menu you can go to the system update option and update your emunand to the latest version.
2.) see above
3.)Yes, yes.
4.) Just backup/delete SD contents, and play a DS game or format your sysNAND to remove the DS profile exploit.

edit: for 7.2 sysNAND you should still be able to launch the gw launcher.dat through the browser exploit, where you should still be able to make a NAND backup and format emunand.

Big thank you for the detailed answer. :)

I can use the GW launcher.dat in 7.2 just fine. I was wondering if the method you've described would be exactly the same for 7.2? I believe the DS profile exploit doesn't work for 7.2.

EDIT: How do you boot into rxTools EmuNAND on 7.2, via the browser?

Yeah, the method should be the same minus the DS profile part which isn't really necessary even for 4.5 users but is just useful to have an offline method.

rxTools can be booted via the browser on all versions up to 9.2 AFAIK. In fact, roxas only added an offline/non browser option in the last week or two.

Thanks again.

He's got the offline exploit working on 6.1:

Got it working so here's my short guide for installing 9.6 EmuNAND on 7.2.0 Original 3DS XL:
  1. Copy GW launcher.dat to SD root and go to go.gateway-3ds.com to boot into gateway mode.
  2. Backup System NAND and copy over to PC and keep safe
  3. Load GW launcher again and format EmuNAND this time - this installs EmuNAND to SD
  4. Copy over firmware.bin, rxTools.dat and slot0x25KeyX.bin to root of SD
  5. Go to launch.rxtools.net and select "rx mode" to boot into EmuNAND
  6. Update firmware in EmuNAND to most recent (9.6)
  7. Every time you want to boot into EmuNAND go to launch.rxtools.net and choose "rx mode"
This works for system firmwares between 2.0 and 9.2

Can this be made to run on N3DS with the release of Pasta?

Also can anyone boot classic emunand on a n3ds without gateway. It says that you can but I get a black screen every-time I try.

(edit)
I found my answer about classic emunand, I guess after 7.0 this no longer works without the card. I did see something about using rxtools but I think it for O3DS at the moment.

Hi, does this still work today? I'm pretty sure the update is no longer 9.4... Thanks.. Sorry I am VERY noob at these kind of things.

I'm not sure if the MT-Card launcher supports 9.7.

But, IIRC it's much easier and better to use rxTools.

Although the MSET exploits are different so if you do use rxTools, you'll need to launch Palantine CFW via MSET (installed by gw_installer.nds) and rxTools via Internet Browser.

I am quite lost on what are you talking about but,

Will updating the emuNAND allow me to still boot in the emuNAND from the sysNAND using palantine CFW?

Will I still be able to install 4.x CIAs?

Thanks..

Will I still be able to install 4.x CIAs? On Palantine CFW, yes. But not on rxTools emuNAND (for obvious reasons).

Thanks..

Check VerseHell 's post above yours, which according to that MTCard doesn't support 9.7.

Basically what you're trying to do is have 1 SD card that has rxTools (which allows you to have 9.7 emuNAND), and a different SD card that has Palantine CFW (which allows you to have 4.x emuNAND and the ability to install CIAs)

There's is to way :
The easiest : install the pbt-cfw on your sysnand and use rxtools for your emunand.
The safest : Install the palantine-cfw then make a dual nand to use both cfw and rxtools. (recquiert one more GB)

So, to put this together it is not possible to have both updated emuNAND and be able to install CIAs in one SD card?
