Our expected release date is right after Nintendo's presentation on June 16th, but all that's going to include is:
  • The new build system for making applications
  • The kernel exploit polished for 5.3.2
  • A Webkit exploit that works on 5.3.2
  • Possibly TCPGecko and Cafiine, we'll see how things go, should be around that time though.
great, thanks
Its funny how people are expecting something really big is coming like a homebrew channel. Just the exploit to load up basic things.
at least for me, that's pretty big already. I loved the wii scene for all the emulators tha came out with it, and certainly the wii u can potentially be even better. PSX, arcade and 32x could definitely use the extra juice. Dreamcast would be a dream... :toot::bow:

Actually, no, I heard that a lot of Wii U games run in 720p, so it's only your TV that makes the game looks AMAIIIIIIIZING!
Most Wii U games are 720p, but the browser still compresses the image regardless of what resolution it is. Also, most people with a 1080p TV would set their Wii U to 1080p in the settings, so the Wii U would be doing the upscaling, not the TV. Either way, a TV cannot make a game look, "AMAIIIIIIIZING".

Actually some of the best games are presented in 1080 p.
Smash Bros U @ 60fps with anti aliasing, Legend of Zelda Windwaker HD @ 30 fps, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate @ 30fps, Rayman Legends @ 60 fps,
Also some Indie games like Steamworld Dig @ 60fps,

In the end on most games you almost cannot tell the difference between NATIVE 1080p and 720p.
Some games do look crap deu to the internal resolution of some games like Darksiders2 1152x640 and Need for Speed most wanted 1280x704.
These games are first upscaled to 720P or 1080i, and if you have your Wiiu set to output in 1080p an additional upscaling will be done.
As you can imagine, this is not benificial for the best image quality.

Also the WiiU upscalng on Wii games in vWii mode is horrible.
For instance Monster Hunter Tri the red triangle cursors are horrible compressed.
On an actual Wii these look fine and crisp.

We are nowhere close how wii hacking scene began. Just basic homebrew

Again, as stated clearly, i'm pretty fine with the current position of Wii U homebrew. Whether it takes years or decades, i really don't care, i can wait. The Wii is already a homebrew powerhouse. If it doesn't happen on the Wii U, then it will be for the NX/Super Wii 64. Devs free time used on this projects will always be appreciated.

NWPlayer123, a question that i have:

You can create a way to use the menu settings without the gamepad? Use for example Pro Controller U.It is possible?
I'm afraid if someday my gamepad stop working.

The kernel exploit should allow us to make these patches, but they'll only persist in memory while the system is in. Installing them will need an IOSU exploit to add titles and a vulnerability in its signature checking.

Why will there need to be a vulnerability in the signature checking? Wouldn't it be possible to patch the signature-checker code to create a vulnerability like: if (true) goto sig_is_valid;

You'd have to repatch it before it launches your title, which would defeat the point of adding the title, but something makes me feel like this is sarcastic

They actually used strncmp(), not strcmp() to verify signatures. :P

the method is still flawed. as long the first bytes matches, the "null" string terminate te compare, even though there was like 6 bytes verified as "matching" :rofl2:

yeah with with all of you that the gamepad being needed to edit the wiiu settings is an awful idea, there is no reason why we cant use wiimote or wiiupro to click on them, its just a gamepad force feature, everytime i want to change the settings i need to power up my gamepad becuase he is always out of batery, that awful batery life too... and yes i know there is high power baterys but i wont buy any until i have a game that is trully worth playing on the gamepad alone, so far my wiiu pro has been my most used wiiu controller, so confy and so good, i dare to say its the best nintendo controller since the GC controller.
