Thanks to the success of two hit movies, 2013′s Battle of Gods and this year’s Revival of F , a sequel series to Dragon Ball Z will be coming to tv in just a few short months.
Taking place after the end of the Buu saga, Dragon Ball Super will continue the story of Goku and his family returning to a peaceful life before the shocking arrival of a new villain that the show’s producer’s promise “will be stronger than Buu and Frieza”. Sure the idea of an even more powerful enemy showing up was already pretty tired after DBZ’s Cell Saga let alone during the latter half of 1996′s semi-unofficial sequel series Dragon Ball GT (taking place at the end of Z but not based on Akira Toriyama’s original manga) but this is exactly why people love this series. High powered demi-gods getting into comically obscene battles while firing blasts that could easily decimate planets…sounds like we’re getting exactly that.

Dragon Ball Z’s cast of characters after the Buu Saga
Unlike Dragon Ball GT however, Fuji TV producer Osamu Nozaki tells us that Dragon Ball Super is being written by creator Akira Toriyama himself:
Apparently the series has been secretly in production for some time now, AnimeNewsNetwork reports that the series will premiere as early as July of this year.

There you have it. No crappy fanart, no Dragon Ball AF prank, it’s the real deal. Hard to believe isn’t it?

I edited all the formatting and whatnot of your post, as it was all over the place, as best I could. In the future, please don't copy paste an entire article into a news post, it's better to just give a quick summary.

As for the news itself, after GT and all it wrought on us DBZ fans, I'm wary of what this series will bring. I don't see the need to it but hey, I'll get to see more gorgeous action.

^Think GT is now or has been its own universe.

I don't dislike GT like some people do, but it doesn't even take after it and the original creator is working on it. It will be fine. I think... :P

Akira Toriyama said sometime ago a 100 new chapters of DB where being worked on after he finished 3 revival movies. So We got the God battle and Freezia's return. I wonder what the 3rd movie will be?

Just saying, I am not surprised at all.

Basically this. DB GT was pretty disgusting, I didn't even finish GT after bingewatching the entirety of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z.

But if they can somehow bring on a show that isn't poops, I might watch it or something.

After Kai I've kinda lost all hope for a quality DB show.. DBS might be good but without a new score by Kikcuhi and/or Yamamoto things may not be that great. Yeah I totally know that Yamamoto was a plagiariser but he did a freaking awesome job for the show and games.

BoG's composer was the same as Kai 2.0 so meh.. the tracks were bland and repetitive as hell.

I was so surprised, I saw the news announcement on the bottom of the page after reading an article about Fredrick Zoller playing the main villain in Captain America 3. I binged watched DB/DBZ/DBGT in late 2012-early 2013, and before that, DBZ was my gateway anime show. Back when Toonami was just starting, DBZ was its flagship show during its weekday 2 hour block. I'm assuming Funimation will bring the band back together for dubbing. I saw Battle Of Gods and thought it was nice, though the appearance of Super Saiyan God was sort of a letdown (the explanation makes sense, but I was expecting SS3 long hair and SS4 ape skin). That movie was a giant expose on Goku and Vegeta's flaw: pride, both being made humble in very different ways, the latter humiliating himself. I figure the show will continue down that path, a little character study, especially with Vegeta. Anyways, what about Uub? DBZ ended with Goku leaving his friends and family behind to train Uub. So will Uub have a prominent role in the new show? Will the story take place immediately after DBZ's end? And if there's a new threat, I would figure he has some connection to Frieza, because otherwise, how would they explain a new villain? Yet another invention of science or magic? That explained Cell and Buu, maybe someone from Other World who was there while Goku occupied it for a couple years in between Cell and Buu, found a way to be resurrected, and wants to challenge Goku. Maybe Bils' butler guy who's revealed to be stronger than the God of Destruction himself.

Such speculation makes me excited, and with the creator himself helming the series, it should be pure in DB lore and spirit. GT veered from that a bit, though it tried to be more like Dragon Ball than DBZ. I still liked it though. There's still the Frieza movie, definitely want to see that. Between this new show, True Detective Season 2, and the Evil Dead show coming to Starz, it's shaping up to be some great TV in the coming Summer and Fall.
