Emunand tool takes care of the emunand partition. Combine that with the folders and you have a complete backup.

Especially given the recent news keep a copy on the cloud or offsite as well.

yeah my mistake was restoring old backup of emunand 9.5 i honestly thought doing this + the copying the folder & files from the sd card i would be good to go but obviously not so next time i do a backup of the sd card content i will extract the emunand too.

Gateway's page is silent for the moment...we shall see if they update about the Emunand breakage

they had a warning for 9.3...most likely they will talk about 9.6

I have a n3ds with 8.1 and a o3ds with 9.5 emunand. I know that emunand is bonded to the console, but there isn't a way to transfer 9.5 emunand to the n3ds emunand? :\

nope, newest EMUNAND is required...I think

how do you backup the gateway sd card ? i copied all the files & folders from the micro sd card & i formatted the micro sd then made a new emunand partition & updated that to 9.5.0-23 i then copied all the files & folders back to the micro sd but everything is now gone every single cia file i installed is gone so many hours wasted ??!!

did you delete the new "nintendo 3DS" folder before copying the older folders on?

apart from the launcher file there was nothing on the micro sd card because right after formatting the emunand i turned the console off so it didn't get the chance to create any folders.

you mean i unlinked old & new emunands ? if so then i should have let emunand create the 3ds folder on the micro sd card before copying the backup 3ds folder over it ?

if emunand and sysnand where unlinked when you remade emunand, then the new emunand wouldnt read the folders from the old emunand, if sysnand and emunand where linked still before you made the new emunand then they would of been readable by the new emunand too


you could try putting the old emunands files into the new emunands SD directory, not sure if it will work but worth a try basically copy the folders from X:/Nintendo 3DS/random name/random name/*THIS DIRECTORY* to the new setup of X:/Nintendo 3DS/different random name/different random name/*THIS DIRECTORY*, should be folders called backup,dbs,title and extdata

again, im not sure it will work but its worth a try i guess...better than installing a whole bunch of cia files if it works

I cant get gateway menu to boot ive tried about 15 times with the cubic ninja exploit.it just stays on a black screen after the gateway boot logo comes out.im on 9.0.0.20U with n3ds

2. No you can not. You need a DS mode flashcart such as an r4 for about $15. The DSTwo is great but out of production.

2. yeah you can use the blue card that comes included with gateway to play NDS roms, but you will need to use flashcardtimewarp on the n3ds first so it will work on 6.x+

has anyone tried to extract their N3ds GW emunand 9.5 using emunand tool yet?

i am getting an error message " unknown NAND size please contact me"
then it creates the dump and it's only like 512kb
is this normal?
how can i make a good backup of my 9.5 emunand ?
