i was just thinking itd be nice for jap n3ds owners to have the menus in English even if they dont have access to an English SecureInfo_A

Would replacing that potentially affect writing the region change to sysnand? I mean, it's a risky process already, but still.

It's patched on the fly in memory (RAM), not on the NAND itself. There's no danger to either SYSNAND or EMUNAND from this.

I'm not familiar with it myself, so it would be better to let one of them answer.

There is a function for verifying signatures/hashes that is used for (just about everything?). So my, perhaps incorrect, understanding is that patching this same function enables region changing without a donor 3ds and running invalidly signed CIAs.

I vote for KSYS and KEMU/KRED if you allow booting without an emunand. Otherwise KARL would be fine.

I'm not sure how much it's been experimented with, but from what I understand, you can only have one NNID per eShop per console. So, unless KARL allows for active switching between different SecureInfo_A+NNID combos, you won't be able to do this without two SD cards.

At the moment I'm just using the fun "EMUNAND" and "SYSNAND" in folders, but vandalising the version number shouldn't be too difficult.

Let it be KARL....and be done with.

If you check your serial that last number is also slightly separated. Probably something else I guess.

Probably, but also much easier than making, effectively, a user selection menu for active switching on one EmuNAND, ha ha

I've already been through emunand patch hell, I'm sure as heck not implementing stuff to change patches on the fly for multiple emunands... just get 2 sd cards.
