Great Project!
also: where is the doom port? XD
to all piracy-poeple: STFU and GTFO

Sorry... but.... such discussion of piracy sucks...
It's a Homebrew Loader, not a Rom Loader.

A quick status update

Just updated the OP to include some general notes on piracy, reinforcing how any discussions relating to piracy on this thread will NOT be tolerated and WILL be reported. I hope this is the last time this topic will have to be brought up.

I also updated the OP to include some proposed schedules for both the open and closed source sides of the project. I suggested some possible applications for the open source ARM11 kernel access, if you want to help out, go for it!

The progress the team has been making is really stellar! Thanks to the whole team for all their hard work. Completely left in the dust here, I reckon it would have taken me 10 times as long to have done any of this by myself, so thanks again guys! I'll be a good citizen now, and pull my weight with the open source projects :P.

you guys have done a very good work so far, I was wondering as there's one of these 4.5 CFW that has plugin support, maybe you could copy their stuff into your CFW to add plugin support too?

Just a suggestion though, I don't really know how much work it'd take and I know you have other priorities...

All of the work you guys have done on this project is simply amazing.

Would there be any chance of small release that would only load vanilla FIRM images? (similar to GW classic mode ig). Reason is 9.5 encryption is still broken and this may be our only chance to system transfer before nintendo releases a fix.

Could someone PLEASE fix OP.
[...] If you do not know C/C++, and haven't started developing for the 3DS in any capacity yet [UURL='[url][url][url][url][url][url][url][url]https://github.com/xem/3DShomebrew/wiki']this[/url][/url][/url][/url][/url][/url][/url][/url] tutorial[/URL] goes through the basics(I might work on fixing up tutorial to fix up the missing sections and add sections for new services enabled by KARL) but if you just want to jump into C/C++ check out cprogramming. [...]
Can this link be fixed pretty please?
Code:

will probably fix it. maybe without the single quotes?

Great to see all the progress made by the team. Been checking back AT LEAST once a day, generally more.
A little off topic as of late, but still sprinkled in with developer gold. Can't wait.
I'm still reading various 3DS dev blog info from various devs to get a little more knowledge. rereading some ASM stuff actually helps understand YL's writeup a little more.

Are you retarded? THE NAME OF THE PROJECT EVEN CONTAINS THE TERM ANTI-PIRACY.

KARL3DS(Kernel Anti-piracy Region-free Loader 3DS)

Anyway, this project means nothing to me, as I already have a Gateway 3DS to enjoy everything I want.

I just hope you guys are realising that by doing this project you will be driving Gateway away ever so slowly, because let's face it, someone WILL make a piracy loader from this. And this will get to the point where the Gateway team will simply move on to a more profitable project. At that point you can forget about getting leaked keys or exploit vulnerabilities from their future Launcher.dat.

RIP 3DS PIRACY SCENE

(In case people did not realise it yet, all exploits / keys so far have been 99% coming from public devs reverse engineering Gateway's Launcher.dat)
Nah mang, you retarded. It stands for Kernal Access ROM Loader, duh.

But seriously, you're right. It's been made clear from the very first post, that this was going to be a project that took a strong anti-piracy stance.

Fixed, sorry, no idea how that happened.

just a question:
.cia file can access games save, right?

I was wondering if it's possible to make a pokesav in .cia format, to edit directly the savegame in the cartdridge

Personally I feel like the best thing would be to develop karl3ds into something resembling an open source homebrew laucher just like ninjhax but with full access to arm11 and arm9 with different entry points and working on all 3DS models.

And then just split off all the CFW stuff to a closed source app that can be launched from karl3ds and that has a different name.

Right so I think I've got my head around the C part, not so much the assembly as of yet.

Tonight going to write out a simple Hello World. Then possibly a basic calculator. If that goes well I may be able to lend a hand!

Right because millions check out the GBAtemp forums and millions know about KARL3DS and flashcards. Let's be honest, the people who would use KARL for piracy are the same people who would rather spend $80 to buy a flashcard than $80 to buy a game and a half. If I had a choice I would rather use KARL to try games then buy the ones I like with that $80, rather than having to spend it just to try the games in the first place. If you really wanted to make sure millions didn't use it for piracy then just make the version with no AP only use ninjhax

I'm tempted not to answer, but you DO know that if this were to support piracy, I'm pretty sure millions would know. Just ask the people who made the pokemon shuffle injection exploit possible. Things get widespread real quickly and that could spell doom for the devs who worked hard for this.

And its not like anyone expect you to release a rom loader. Just make everything open-source, what people do with it should not be your problem. But that is just my opinion.

Exactly this. It's one thing to simply not support piracy and make it an open source project. It's another to make it closed source and putting AP checks in.

its not the informed people thats the problem, its the fact that those informed people would then profiteer from the free rom loader by selling hundreds of "pre-loaded" systems on to the un-informed, the amount of people i knew who had bought "pre-loaded" wii's and PSP's etc at a premium from people who where just installing the hombrew channel and wii flow and making a big profit selling a "pre-loaded" systems.....thats when it becomes a problem, as it fast easy money with no investment....and it spreads far beyond the realms of gbatemp....and its those uninformed" users that would otherwise be buying legit games that really do the damage

Seriously, those who don't support this project only complain. No wonder people with private CFW don't release them. People want more.

Still I wish I could have such a job, it's so easy to make money doing this, some people can pay up to 50€ to hack a Wii...
