hey all,

just updated to the latest and greatest version from 2.9.6 I think
anyways, having an issue with rogue squadron 3 erroring out in game with the nintendon message to check the gamecube manual
usually happen before I can to select a stage.
you have to force reset or power down at that point

rogue squadron 2 is still working great
these are both in progressive from in the game menu, not forced. tried forcing and still errors out
tried through nintendont and CFG loader too, same result.
shows green compat in the list
http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/Nintendont_Compatibility_List
any ideas?
these star wars games are my favorite ;)

¡THIS IS THE BEST THING TO HAPPEN TO GAMING IN A LONG TIME!

edit...
testing vs launching from latest homebrew channel vs official channel vs CFG 70mod78

edit again...
the games I've tested so far all ask if I want to display in progressive mode now when they didn't before. I think star wars did actually because they have a menu item.
but luigi's mansion never did before. not a huge thing if it means better picture quality.
but the force progressive option is disabled under the main settings
this was from direct and channel loading
yet to try CFG

last edit. @.@
tested from all methods of loading
and seems very inconsistent of where it errors but eventually will at some point
maybe a few minutes to hours?
maybe it's the ISO possibly causing this?
again only happens right now for Rogue Squadron 3
exact message: "Turn the power off and refer to the Nintendo Gamecube Instruction Booklet for further instructions."

heh I used to be QA so... this is fun ;)
ok what say you guys?
oh also, my generic gc controller rumble now seems to be working way better
saw a line about that. woohoo!
I'm going to bed
so i jsut tested and you are right star wars rogue squadron III randomly gives disc read errors when enterying and exiting the level select. my guess is this on 306 broke it

-changed up some disc code, it should still work just like before, the only
difference is that no actual disc drive needs to be in place to work from sd/usb

Probably could have broken more games since i couldnt make it disc error on 305 so in the meantime use 305 instead of the latest 306 and tell me if you can disc error i couldnt.

your issue must be becuase usbloader gx, the latest 305 version works on all usb doors with both cables i usualy put gcadapter on the back both cables and the hdd in front, of course usbloaders sometimes have restricted ports to use unlike launching nintendont directly from the homebrew channel.
I'm using the latest revision of USBLoader GX. It's a bit weird that an old build would let me have both my drive and the adapter on any port and the new one wouldn't. TBH I really don't know much about the inner workings of USBloaderGx and Nintendont, and the WII modding and general.

Anyone know if this effects Nintendont also?
I'm wondering if this is what stops swiss-gc and sdloader from working.
The makercode is stored at 0x04 of an ISO/GCM.

This shouldn't affect Nintendont. The blacklist is implemented in MIOS, and Nintendont doesn't use MIOS.

Do note that the WiiKey configuration disc probably won't work in Nintendont anyway due to the way it patches everything. You'll need to install an older version of MIOS (v4?) to get the disc working.

Well Sonic Figthers and Sonic R seem to have the tendency to crash at random points....
Sonic R crashed on me after a few races with a black screen and a soft bleep. Couldn't get Fighters to crash but I imagine it would as well. Running from SD card on v3.305, so the USB changes have nothing on this game.

I am trying to compile the latest version of Nintendont (r306), but when I run the batch file, I get the error: "/bin/arm-none-eabi-gcc: No such file or directory". After searching the internet, I think it is some kind of compiler library. I found many different versions. I was hoping someone here could tell me how to get the right version for compiling Nintendont.

search devkitpro and get both devkitarm and devkitppc from the devkitpro installer.

THANK YOU!!

I just installed devkitARM r44 and Nintendont compiled PERFECTLY.

I see, they released r44, didnt even know that, sounds like they didnt change much in it though if it still compiles so thats good, before I always had to change something small to stay compatible.

I just tested my newly-built Nintendont with Luigi's Mansion and it worked. The Z+R+B+Down even exited to the HBC! (Unlike the last version I was using.)

you know that you also could just get the pre-compiled loader.dol right? also it only returns to hbc if it also was booted from the hbc so I guess you used something different to start before.

Actually, (last time I checked) the loader.dol on the googlecode page was out of date. Also, you're right I forgot that I used CFG Loader Mod the last time I used Nintendont. I just tested your comment by loading my old .dol file directly from the HBC. It also returned correctly.

EDIT: The new Nintendont DOES return to the HBC even when it was run from CFG Loader Mod. The old one doesn't.

How can the loader.dol be out of date when he uploads it with every revision?

I tried both with dios mios booter and they run fine, but Nintendont blackscreens with both,
using the gamecube bios swiss-gc it oddly get's stuck displaying the purple G logo.

homebrew apps are not loadable in nintendont, they dont follow the nintendo gamecube sdk so they cant be patched.

You mean homebrew dols or the homebrew apploader, a difference between homebrew gcm and real gcms i've noticed
is the homebrew gcms include iso9660, rockridge, joliet, el torito filesystems readable in isobuster whilst real gcms don't list any files or filesystems and are only readable via by tools like gc-tool and gamecube image rebuilder.

DOLs as well as custom Apploaders wont work, they just work far too different to be recognized by the nintendont patching system.
Also to the guy with the star wars issue, check out this update:
-worked more on the code from the previous version to get it more stable overall
I tried it myself and after adding some more security checks and all it seems to run crashless.
