I have a 2DS with firmware 8.1. I understand that the 2DS can not be downgraded to 4.5. Say I was to purchase a DS card, could I use this tutorial to run an emuNAND, and install .CIAs to that emuNAND?

you have been told "no, you cannot do anything without buying a gateway card on a 2DS" several times....

Hello, I'm having some trouble with installing the CFW. I followed the other guide OP made ( https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutoria...r-firmware-to-cfw-4-5-without-gateway.378371/ ), got to the point where eventually the bottom screen flashed white, found the IP address of the 3DS but running the run.bat file after editing it gave me a failed to connect error. I've found out now that I should've tried opening the browser and loading a page and then starting the run.bat file but at the time I thought that I must've messed up in an earlier step because it wouldn't connect and the 3DS seemed to quickly freeze when hovering over the menu icons, which is actually what's supposed to happen due to the buggy CFW? Anyway, I decided to format the SD card and wanted to start from step 1 (after downgrading to 4.5) but it won't let me into the gateway menu after clicking on DS profile anymore. After starting another game from the DS flashcart instead of the gateway launcher I can now enter the normal DS Profile menu but I'd like to get back to the last step of the guide and try the opening the browser trick so the 3DS can connect to the PC. How do I go about doing that now? Again, right now I'm on 4.5 with nothing on the SD card but with most of the steps done before formating the SD card. Any help is appreciated.

I just bought my first 3ds XL two days ago.
Does following this method allow me to bypass the gateway card?

can i play a backup zelda orcarina of time following this method?

CFW is for installing unsigned cias without any requirement of 3ds flashcart (4.5 ds flashcart is needed to install ds exploit). Yes you can play your own backup games (convert them to cia) and others.

I did fix my issues with the CFW but I still cannot get a working boot of the emunand after updating.

Is the newest Nintendo update killing it?

I cant get a 9.4 emunand to work, and now whenever i try to use my original 16 gb sd it wont read, saying it cannot detect, what can i do?

Hello again. I followed the tutorial so I have 4,5 Sysnand and 9.4 emuNand. The problem now is that trying to play Pokemon OR retail on the emuNand it told me that the save is corrupted. What can I do? Have I lost my game forever? Also, trying to play Smash on the same emunand, after boot it, i get a black screen and never the welcome of the game..

PD: I've to say that I have a 9.2 Nand backup done before all this tutorial and that I formatted the sysnand like said at the extras section

Well, I have also tried my Professor Layton Ashalanti on the 9.4 emuNAND and it have created a new data file... It seems that every retail game I try to play with emuNAND get the save deleted... What can i do?

Yes and no your save would work on classic mode only but you would have to restart the game to do so but if your using 6.xx and up sysnand then you would not have to restart it.

I would assume he means a new save would have to be created (thus restarting the game) in order to use it with different save encryption.

guys i have a problem, i'm stuck on this:

if i press a or b nothing happen.. i just format the emunand, what i do? i turn it off and do all the process? am i in brick risk?

edit: i turned it off and on again, i tryed again and it's still the same, after i choose go to classic mode i got this, and if i press any key nothing happen..

edit2: i tryed again and i still got stuck, i choose to turn it off, then start again the mt, and just choose to boot ds profile, without doing the format of the emu nand before (i already did it before it get stuck) i got mt before firmware, now i'm upgrading it

aaand new problem.. on this step:

1. Now, copy everything from the SD Card folder in Palantine CFW onto the SD card. Delete the launcher.dat, and rename the launcher_gw.dat to launcher.dat
2. Insert the SD card into the console and boot up. It will create software management information. Take the SD card out again and open it on your computer.
3. Now, in your SD card, there should be a Nintendo 3DS folder. Open it, and open the folder inside that. There should be another, so open that too. You should see a exdata folder.
4. Make a new folder (not inside the exdata folder, but in the same directory as it) called “dbs”. Go into the folder and make a blank text file, named “title.db” or “import.db”. Doesn’t matter which.
5. Insert the SD back into the system and go into Settings —> Data Management —> Software. It’ll ask to reset your software management information, so allow it to do so.

i go to settings- data management - 3ds - software. and the 3ds say (sorry if it's not the perfect translation)
the info on the sd are damaged, do you want to format the sd? you're gonna lose all the software and save data
