Yeah Sky3ds sucks, whereas the god-like GW can of course run CIAs and multi-region on a New3DS.

But try running a Japanese ROM on your US N3DS with Sky? Oh wait, you can't. At least with Gateway you will be able to...supposedly.

People are still upset about the sketchy revision 1 Sky3DS carts, which is understandable, but that doesn't mean it's a bad option. In fact, it's some people's ONLY option. There are advantages and disadvantages to each at the moment.

Well I do. N3DS support apart, there is nothing Sky3DS can do better. I dare the Sky worshipers to come up with an excuse.

Next thing you know they'll be praising the almighty blue button.

It's "New3DS and 9.3+ FW" apart". But yes I agree if you are on 2ds or old 3DS FW <=9.2, you should get a Gateway. For everyone else, a GW card is useless

I don't understand why it would be some people's only option. Do you mean that N3DS owners won't buy a Gateway, or is there something else? From what I read on that huge thread here on GBATemp, most people do indeed have a Gateway and are just waiting for the update.

Yes, I will be able to.... and why is that again? Cuz GW said so?

BTW, random fact of the day! If you deposit just $1 in a bank account, with interest you will be able to become a billionaire soon! Isn't that amazing?

I was referring to the fact that Sky3DS supports all current firmwares. If you want to use GW, you need a firmware of >9.3

But, you have to admit that blue button is very sexy though

Don't buy something before it's out. Simple as that. Stuff get's canceled/scrapped/blocked/etc all the time. What if gateway just closed up shop right now and didn't release anything else? Would you be happy with your purchases? I don't see why that's such a big problem for people. Gateway is a company which makes products for you to purchase. They aren't a public service, and they aren't obligated to release the stuff they show off. Go look at any number of scrapped games. You gonna complain since you can't get those either? If you bought a N3DS and it turns out there's no support for it, then that's your own damn fault. Not gateway's. Just like how if you updated to 9.4 it's not gateway's job to fix that. If they release a 9.4 exploit then great. If not, then no big deal.
Read what u wrote....slowly.
See? It does sound stupid. Amirite?

I am very happy with my NN3DS!
You want to know why?

My SKY3DS works perfectly with all games, latest f/w, eshop access, no modding, no emunand/sysnand bricking, and when I pull the SkY3DS out of my NN3DS and put it in my old XL, the card works with ALL REGIONS. And, im not waiting. There is no......."SOON." lulz
Good for you. And the point of your post was? Advertising? Thread derailing? Flame war baiting?

It just works. Yeah, you've got the crappy templates and utility.. But you plug it in and go.. No need to reload an exploit. Am I saying it's better? No. Is it bad? No.

First you claim that it just works, and then you admit that it requires screwing around with templates to work. Which one it is?

The Sky3ds cart works fine on most games. And their team works constantly to update their template to support new games. It's just like Gateway keep updating their Emunand support. But if there's a game that's not so popular or just newly added, then there's a chance for errors. That's when you need to screw around with the templates.

In other words, it doesn't "just work". If you want to play a game that doesn't work you'll have to get your hands dirty with templates or wait for it to become officially supported. Unlike with GW, where you just have to set up your emunand with 7.x or higher once and then all games will work right away, even if it's not on the latest firmware.

Well, when 9.4 was released. GW users had to wait for their emunand updates while Sky users could just update as normal and continue to play online. Pros and Cons.

I was staring at a classic XL and a New XL.
Gateway announced future support, and I wanted NOW support so grabbed the classic.

So, yeah, why so glum folks. You knew you were in it for the long haul right?

Actually, you don't need the latest firmware to play online.

Hmm, i was under the impression that if you start a new game like Pokemon Omega Ruby, you will need to download the latest update from the eShop. Which would require you to be on the latest firmware to access the eShop?
Unless you have already updated prior to the firmware update, then that might be when your scenario comes in. Or i think you could wait for those cia repacks to be released.

Some games might require updates, but as you said, you can always install them from .cias. And waiting for the .cias to be uploaded isn't a problem, as GW always updates with support for the newest fw so fast that by the time new game updates come out, you'll already have eShop access. So really, I've never had to rely on .cia installs for updates (except for out of region games).

Wish they would let us play the NCAA football 14 on newer xbox, its one of the only games I love and own on disc still, that is not back compatible, bs.

@BigOnYa My dad recently bought a spare Series X off of me, got game pass, and saw Madden '24 on Game Pass, decided to try it out.

@K3Nv2 He was looking into consoles for his house anyway (for my younger siblings and himself) and I had a spare XSX and Switch I ended up selling him at pretty steep cuts. I would just give them to him, but I did buy them with the intent to sell them... and college is super expensive.
