I have a 2DS and you can't downgrade to 4.5. The Gateway launcher won't let you run the downgrade. It let's you know that you can't downgrade and won't go any further in the process.

4.5 is the gateway.dg

It's saying if you make a backup of you 8.x nand before you use the gateway.dg you can flash it back any-time you want

So it will work if it is a nand below 9.x.

Only yourself can answer that. Others have successfully downgraded so far in another thread. Choice is yours!

Because the 2DS and N3DS didn't exist when firmware 4.5 was released, there are no drivers for their specific hardware inside this firmware version. It's a given that a N3DS would fail to even boot, the 2DS doesn't have hardware that's that different but it still might not like it. Thankfully, Gateway implemented checks to prevent such downgrades if the user tries them.

I don't yet have a nand mod but I'm an electrician and very handy with a soldering iron so I wasn't too afraid of it going wrong

1. You bought an old pre 4.5 firmware 3ds and have since upgraded sysnand via normal wifi upgrade method to sysnand 9.2.?

2. Now you have downgraded to 4.5 with the gateway files and web page exploit (and NO OTHER BACKUP files that you own)?

3. Also I assume you didn't need a gateway card in the console to do this?

Possibly because there hasn't been any Firmware 4.5 for 2DS. It started with 6.2.

Eugh..... Great news, but I don't have a hardware mod so I'm scared to do this...

Did it without one.
DOWNGRADE complete.

You have to check the MD5 on your PC before downgrading (make sure you really have the correct file for the region of your 3DS), then backup your sysNand (the downgrade prompt won't let you downgrade without a backup regardless) and then just plug in the charger, confirm the downgrade, put your 3DS somewhere you and nobody else won't touch it and it won't fall, so that it doesn't turn off accidently or lose its SD card and nothing bad will happen to your 3DS.

The same stuff as with the PSP downgrades when there was no pandora battery. Those were the days.

If you are still scared that you couldn't follow the instructions above, you really should stay away from this.

You dont get my point, I thought the downgrade service was in case you updated your system nand on FW4.5.0 to say 9.4 and then you can use the downgrade file with your 4.5.0 nand.bin and the downgrade.dg file to go back to 4.5.0 your original system nand FW that you first backed up. But it looks like this is only for others that are between 4.5.0 and 9.2 to downgrade to 4.5.0 but whats the point now if GW all works between 4.5.0 and 9.2FW anyway? So this downgrade service is useless for users already on 4.5.0 and below

The point is not to use the wifi exploit.

Yes it is useless for anyone 4.5.0 and below.

For people who have a 8.x 3ds you can downgrade it without a gateway card as confirmed in the downgrade thread and use 4.5 CFW

Hey, I got a question. Before the gateway update arrived yesterday, I made a backup of my SD card. Now I would like to transfer the contents of it to emunand so that I don't have to download every game from eshop again and keep my saves. How do I do it and what do I need to copy?

just copy the whole sd card on your pc, then format emunand, shut down the 3ds and copy everything from the pc back to the sd card.. if it doesnt recognize it yet and the icons won´t show up, then delete the "nintendo 3ds" folder from your sd card, and copy it again from the pc (after that it worked for me and some other people)
