It's an old Red XL so it was originally pre 4.5

I actually just got a late model XL. Traded in my original 3DS at Gamestop and picked up a limited edition one. It is running 6.3 out of box, but I would love to be able to run 4.5. Hopefully someone with a NAND mod (or someone with more cojones than me) will try on their late model XL and report the results.

4.5 is the gateway.dg

It's saying if you make a backup of you 8.x nand you can flash it back any-time you want

You dont get my point, I thought the downgrade service was in case you updated your system nand on FW4.5.0 to say 9.4 and then you can use the downgrade file with your 4.5.0 nand.bin and the downgrade.dg file to go back to 4.5.0 your original system nand FW that you first backed up. But it looks like this is only for others that are between 4.5.0 and 9.2 to downgrade to 4.5.0 but whats the point now if GW all works between 4.5.0 and 9.2FW anyway? So this downgrade service is useless for users already on 4.5.0 and below

The Gateway team and the community have made some magical stuff. I wouldn't be too surprised if it's possible later on.

I don't yet have a nand mod but I'm an electrician and very handy with a soldering iron so I wasn't too afraid of it going wrong

Just downgraded my 9.2U console to 4.2 successfully as well.

Strangely enough all users having the NAND Mod installed would have had 4.x firmware at some point in time.

it doesnt work, just says "Sorry, downgrade for this console is not supported yet"
considering the 2ds actually uses a single screen, I dont think it will be able as support for it to work was probably added in 6.x
