Yeah I had actually thought that. What if this new exploit requires connection to servers in order to install or something? They could be having issues setting up the server and of course that may bring along legal issues.

MT Group have not continuously misled people on a release date which is becoming increasingly suspect

MT can't release any updates before Gateway (the people who actually create this magic) release theirs. How can MT copy something that's not even out yet?

There is a hell of a lot more value in having the download on an official source. I personally don't download shit unless I'm somewhat confident in it's authenticity. I'd MUCH prefer to download it from gateway in a couple days than have the gateway site down now and have 40 random links flying around, half of which likely have virus/keyloggers/rootkits bundled in.

Gateway provides MD5 hashes, which are basically signatures of a file that prove they are identical to the ones provided by Gateway. You can use a MD5 checksum calculator software to verify the signature of the download against Gateway's signature to prove its legitimacy. Not too complicated.

Anyway, I think for the most part that doesn't matter. If we're to take the "server issues" e-mails as truth, then I doubt it's just simply uploading a new launcher or some other new files. It can be a QR code delivery system or a remote payload download. As Gateway wants to make people rely on their card, I'm sure they will be obfuscating the exploit methods as much as possible.

And gateway clearly doesn't care about having sky3ds as competition as they're two very different products.

Gateway has a lot of high quality features such as region free, a good fast rom selector and game dumping that you can't get on sky3ds but you can't use the latest firmware. They can also upgrade firmware so that you don't have to buy a new cartridge.
Sky3ds only does the absolute basics of rom loading without region free, but can be used on the latest firmware. They can't upgrade firmware and need a new card purchase for new features.

They are just very different products, gateway doesn't care about that sort of competition.

There is no delay, neither they have lied. They always said they expected, and they never have an exact date. People here give thos vague releasing time frames their own meaning, but they defenitly didnt delay anything.
