Today I dug out my PS2 and tried to play it. Connected my N64's AV cables to the TV, etc. The system itself is fine but the screen is weird. Like, it shows the same image everywhere on a rotated angle. Dunno how to explain. May take a pic later.

Anyways, is there any fix to this? Does a N64 AV cables work with PS2? I thought so. Is it my PS2? I remember my PS2 flickering way back in 2010 but it was very rare. Also it was too far from the TV. In this case, it's very close to the TV so it's impossible it can't flicker...

Any help? Thanks.

Why would you even think N64 cable works on PS2? No it will NOT work. The connector is different already. Different system and/or different system makers uses different cables.

Also what AV cable are you referring to? Composite? S-Video? Euro-SCART?

Composite. Ah well. Seems like I will need to get an AV cable somewhere since I can't find it anywhere... What if this isn't the root of the issue?

I have another issue.

My fat PS2 isn't reading discs. Original discs, pirated discs, nothing. The only game I tried that worked with it was japanese Tekken 3 if I'm not wrong. or 4 idk

anyways, some games like Spyro: A New Beggining, Crash Twinsanity etc which i already had arent being read by the PS2. It shows the MATRIX logo, then the PS2 stops making the noise which then leads to the memory card screen etc, OR either it makes noise but the game doesnt enter.

I tried everything but nothing. I may give it to a friend of mine to try to fix it, he has always fixed without fail. Do I need to do these HDD mods? I wanted the traditional way tbh :(

For the price you maybe better of getting a used ps2 in good condition

Hmm I kind of agree but is the HDD mode that expensive/hard? If it was simple as the Wii xD

So I need to get a new controller (my only WiFi only seems to not be working), a new thing that you put the AV cables in (I forgot the name. Seems like the screen problem was on that thing) and probably a new PS2...

...

I hope it's worth it.

HDD mode is pretty simple. Grab a PS2 Network adapter and an IDE hard drive and install Free Mcboot through disc swapping.

I found the PS2 fairly easy and my prior experience was Wii/PSP. I started from scratch and have my fat PS2 running backups from internal HDD for under $100. That included just buying a FMCB MC off eBay for $20.

I like the L angle connectors which add more force to it I guess which defeats the point

i only buy new ones when theres a new standard and I have gear that uses it. Otherwise my cables seem to last forever.

I like electronics that use detachable cables, that way if the cable breaks you can just swap in a new one instead of replacing the whole unit

most battery operated mice don't even work anymore if the internal battery dies

the L hdmi adapters work great on my tv and receiver. so much less stress on the ports using them than regular cables. in that instance anyway.
