Anybody here have a PPC-based machine? (macs, amigas, servers, etc)

Many amigas are Motorola 68000 variants. But to answer your question anyone with a wii has a ppc-based machine(PowerPC). Of course with Dolphin/Qemu/or VMware(virtual machine variants etc) you have access to emulated ppc architecture.

Uh sort of indirectly lol. The Wii was essentially just a suped up gamecube and the Wii U is essentially a suped up Wii (with much heavier security XD) so in a way its a gamecube I guess hahaha.

Also why Nintendo decided to stick with a 32 bit architecture really blows my mind for this generation. I understand they're all about keeping the cost of hardware production low, but this is 2014, who do you know personally has a 32 bit CPU in their main pc or mac anymore? Like seriously trolololol. I mean collectors tend to have 32 bit computers too, but that's only because its their hobby to collect old computers/technology. But outside of that, NOBODY uses 32 bit computers anymore (not counting microcomputers here, so don't even go there, those don't count :P).

Also the CPU in the Wii and Wii U is based off the old PowerPC 750 which is old as dirt :P. Hence why its 32 bit, but you would think they would've updated to a 64 bit architecture by now XD. Oh well....

I would wager that its not a bad move, even today you will only find a handful of games that actually use 64bit and that's mainly because very few games need more than 32bit offers. 64bit in computers is useful for things not games and some helpful math operations but most games do fine without these.

Even the latest most cutting edge games though? Sorry, I'm primarily a console gamer, the only pc game I play is WOW which will run on anything made in the last 10 years or so XD.

Until litterally last year you would be hard pressed to find any PC game that was 64bit, and even then the only ones that really benefit are ones that do heavy physics calculations and need the 64bit operations for speed or RTS's and only because they need more than 4gb of ram to function properly. However there will be many more starting this year due to UE4 building in 64 and 32 easily and more game engines considering the switch.

EDIT: As for the reason, Why waste the time to write a 64 bit game whenever a 32bit game will run on all 64 bit operating systems and there are already engines for it. It takes a long time to port these engines and writting one from scratch as I said doesn't offer much benefit except for heavy physics or RTS
 
For my opinion wiiu have enough power for good game! Pc and the new console have more power ok... but never is 100%used/optimized... look the firts game on 360 and halo4... looks like another gen
 
Ah, the classic wow64 excuse. ("But 64 bit runs 32 bit software!")
I don't really enjoy the excuse but it does make sense especially for very large engines, that millions of dollars in programmers hours for no noticeable benefit. Going from 32bit to 64bit doesn't offer any real advantages unless you need the ram or need those special operations. Most games don't and still don't but time is being taken to slowly port some as the need might arise.
