So you figure there is NO conversion with the crack tool? It simply spits out the code.

No it changes something. The CRC is different on the files after I ran it versus the file before I ran it. I thought it didn't do anything either, but it does "something".

Aggghhh. I don't have more than 8 ROMs that I can really try. All the others I try constantly loop or skip change. Even if I only put one ROM on the cart, it will just sit there and loop.

As Philipx99 helpfully said earlier, when you reach a game that skips hold the red button down for 5 seconds. The LED should then flash slowly and the game won't change but you can still play the game.

For me, it's not a limit per se, it seems to be particular ROMs that loop/skip. Even if I put only one ROM on the cart (e.g. Tetris) it loops indefinitely.

So then why doesn't sky just make all latest templates NO EEPROM?
And if they did increase the EEPROM size...Why? when they could just update the templates as NO EEPROM.
Sorry I'm just trying to wrap my head around this. If you play by the rules and just go with 10 games using disk writer everything works great, no save issues, no looping issues.

If they made the templates No EEPROM, some games might not work. Others might work flawlessly. It's like what's been discovered by dawnbomb and donkeymilk on how 2gb+ games have issues and certain DiskWriter revisions have more issues. So if they were lazy bastards as johnbus mentioned, it would make most sense to just increase EEPROM size. (Don't quote me on this because I don't have a blue button Sky3DS to test it with).

I'm going to go ahead and say the fact the official website links to this thread is a sign of laziness.

and no. I actually did email them and ask them to spread the link around.

You lazy ass. :glare:. If I'm not mistaken it depends on each person's cart.

For me, it's not a limit per se, it seems to be particular ROMs that loop/skip. Even if I put only one ROM on the cart (e.g. Tetris) it loops indefinitely.

Can you re-backup the particular ROMs that loop/skip? or give us a list so that if someone has that backup they can give it a try and see if it skips for them or if it's just you.

Yep. I'm working on that now. A ROM I was having trouble with I sent to another member. He tried it and said his cart totally flaked out. Gonna try another source and see how that goes. Could just be bad dumps.

UPDATE: ROM from secondary source still loops.

USA ROMs that "skip" for me:

  • Tetris
  • Animal Crossing (New Leaf)
  • Cooking Mama 5
  • Wreck it Ralph

I can confirm that the CRC32 check on my ROM matches the one at no-intor.org.

http://datomatic.no-intro.org/index.php?page=show_record&s=64&n=1108

I've tried various DiskWriter versions, template files, and custom edits to the templates - none have been able to produce a ROM that does not skip on load for the Sky3DS.

Sky3DS = beta release at best. Alpha really. Just FYI for those of you looking to buy one.

The way I understand it is that the Sky3ds has stored which were the first 10 games you loaded onto it were and will run them fine.
If you copy any new roms to the sd or format the SD and copy new roms, they won't be on the sky3ds' internal list and so it will try to skip them. So because of this, the list of skipping games will be different for every person.

My Sky3DS has never used EEPROM, so there is no list to load. This happens even with one ROM. I don't think that's what's happening here. Sky3DS is glitching on these ROMs.

Is it just those 4 roms you listed above giving you issues?

Yes. These seem to work OK so far:

  • New Super Mario Bros. (works, saves)
  • Super Smash Bros. (works, saves)
  • Cooking Mama 4 (works, saves)
  • Lego Batman (works, saves)
  • Mario and Sonic @ Olympic games (doesn't skip, didn't actually load)
  • Raving Rabbids (doesn't skip, didn't actually load)
  • Penguins of Madagascar (doesn't skip, didn't actually load)
  • Pac Man Ghosts (doesn't skip, didn't actually load)

Just because you've not chosen EEPROM saving doesn't mean that sky3ds hasn't saved the list of your first 10 games. I've just loaded up another 2 games on my full card and they've both become skipping games. The number of games that don't skip though? Exactly 10.

I'm sure if you count up the number of games that you've loaded in the past that don't skip it adds up to 10.

what if you keep it below 10 on a new sd?

Arithmatics thanks method 1 works great!!

since best of all roms after 10 are on separate card keep skipping each at good speed other, frees me from manually pressing, save data stays there, and even after closing the game i can relaunch it. though i have to restart the 3ds to change the game.

dawnbomb i just sharpied the led indicator, no more flahing promblem

So do the games on card #1 skip or just the games on card #2?

Maybe I am hitting some sort of theoretical maximum. I'm unable (as of yet) to find more than 8 ROMs that I can put on without the skipping problem.
