Sky3DS only supports every firmware because it simulates a real game card. Firmware has no effect on it.
to be honest to me he sounds more like a Gateway card owner who's angry at TeamGateway for not releasing the 9.0-9.2 update.

Take that with a grain of salt.
On the one hand, Sky3DS simulates a real game card (I haven't reverse engineered one Sky3DS but I believe this to be true).
But this does not imply that firmware has no effect on it, as the simulation must be always a perfect 1:1 for each different game card it simulates and it is hard to believe this is the case (things like read throughput, timing differences, etc. can be measured and detected).
To add some more complexity, different games have different headers, so the simulation needs to be both 1:1 but different from other copies of a game (unique), as duplicates could be detected.
At the end of the day, with enough involvement from Nintendo, any card (even 1:1 cards) can be detected.
Good News for you: SKY3DS supports FW 8.1! With the Blue Button Version you can even play unlimited games! Its the best Card ever!

Please, stop doing this... This sounds like a desperate act on your side. To try to convince everyone of something that's not entirely true.
And for the record I, personally, don't agree with your statement that region free is dumb.
I was okay with Sky3DS until they said this:
They're already saying they are ready to sell you another card after making you buy a different one already. Gateway said they're trying to get support for all firmware 9.0 and lower, so just hold on till we get more info on that.
