Hacking Homepass - Ive tried everything...

I hope I can get some help with this, i been busting my ass all yesterday and today with little luck
any help would be much appreciated it.

With no luck after following the steps carefully.
I have a Dlink Dw110 G wireless usb adaper + my regular Ethernet connection

I also attempted to use the Virtual router manager method
essentially this is what i end up getting

Sometimes like the picture shows it connects to the access point but i never get connection from access point to internet.

Any additional info can be provided, i really want to make this work since there's no Nintendo hotspots at all where I live.

I also have a S4 4.4.2 rooted and i have tried some methods with android but no luck with that either.

One thing i kept doing wrong was when i was changing my mac address, i kept changing the mac address of the virtual wifi connection instead of my actual wifi connection(i'm using a windows 8.1 tablet for my homepass relay so i don't have an ethernet connection, therefor you probably have to change the macaddress of your ethernet connection before starting your virtual router/wifi). Don't know if any of this will help but its the best i can offer.

I just got mine working the other day on Windows. First off, turn off the second checkbox about "Allow other network users to control or share this connection", it's not needed and just opens your computer up for hacking. Second, what mac program are you using to change your mac address on the wifi adaptor (I'm using MacPass 2.0)? Third, I don't know what that virtual router manager is but I'm not using it either.

Ultimately on my computer I plugged my second NIC into my modem going around my firewall/router/switch. This NIC is shared with my WiFi adaptor and ensured nothing was blocking my Homepass from the internet which may be the only issue you have. If I had my computer plugged into my router then I couldn't get to the internet. This was likely due to a static IP on my NIC or something DHCP related that I'm planning to fix, for now I just unplug the cable when I'm not using Homepass.

Also, I had to change the SSID from attwifi to NZ@McD1. When you create your SSID on your computer, you should see a new network adapter show up in your list, this is the adapter that should be shared with your NIC. When the adapter is removed from changing the MAC, your NIC will keep the setting and all should be well. I believe there are issues in 9.0 firmware with attwifi since Nintendo is no longer using it from what I understand.

Also, make sure that when the MAC is changed that it is really changed on the WiFi adapter by issuing an ipconfig /all command. If it is not, you likely need to run your MacPass program as an administrator (since it's executing command line commands that need admin access).

Sorry if parts of that come across direct, but let me know if you have other issues and we can get you sorted.

Did you try manually setting the IPs for the connection? I am able to get my 3DS to connect to my Virtual Wifi access point. The IP4 configuration of your new virtual wifi should be set to 192.168.137.1 (with the usual subnet mask) and everything else blank. Windows usually sets it to this for you when you first created the virtual wifi connection. It will show up in Network Connections as it's own adapter. Change the IPs for this NOT the physical wifi adapter as that is not what your 3DS is using for IP settings.

Then manually configure the 3DS to use 192.168.137.2 (or some other ip in that range, but not 1 as that will be the gateway ip from the 3DS's point of view). Then set gateway ip to match that of the one set on the computer. DNS settings on 3DS should be set to the gateway IP which is 192.168.137.1 as set on your PC's virtual Wifi connection.

Also I disabled the custom software my wifi adapter uses as it also happens to have it's own page for virtual wifi. It's rather unreliable and crappy, so I just prevent that program from starting at all and let the "Virtual Router" program do the job instead. I also made sure to remove SSID listings from my wifi adapter so it doesn't connect to anything while I'm using it.

Though that alone shouldn't interfere with it. You should be able to have the wifi adapter connected to your router and still use it as an access point at the same time via virtual wif with no issues if that is how your computer is connected to the internet. In that case make sure your Internet Connection Sharing is pointed to your physical Wifi adapter instead of your Ethernet LAN.

I did what you mentioned i believe, and i am using macpass 2.0
I notice that the address that the software shows its one digit behind what the actual virtual port shows like in the picture I attached.

The 3ds connects to the access point, but it shows no connection between the access point and the internet

Try what Apache thunder recommended and put a static address on your NDS and try going around your router in case that's adding more into the mix. I also had to use a static on my NDS for some reason, the first time it connected without issue but stopped after messing with the config again. Also, right-click macpass > run as administrator when you start it, and change the attwifi to NZ@McD1 in the command. You can also change the password (recommended), then execute and start the program. I'm not sure why the MAC is an increment off, but as long as it changes and has a MAC in the list then I suppose there's not much to worry about there.

I just noticed that there's an IPV6 DNS server in your list too. For testing you can also uncheck the IPv6 box on your adapters unless you're running IPv6 at home.

Is it possible to set up homepass without a Wi-Fi USB dongle?

I spent a long time searching with no luck.

Hey Loco - Your gateway on your 3DS is incorrect. It should be 192.168.137.1 (to match your computers IP address). The same should be for your DNS server. Give that a go!

Is it possible to set up homepass without a Wi-Fi USB dongle?

I spent a long time searching with no luck.

(I just have Windows 7 and wireless router, not a Wi-Fi USB dongle.)

It may be possible if you have a dual-band router that can host a G wireless network and an N wireless network. You could make the G network your NZ@McD1 network, but the issue comes into play when having to cycle your MAC address as only a few home routers would allow you to do this. USB dongles are fairly cheap, the 3DS only has a G wireless radio in it while the new one has an N radio. G wireless is depreciated and if they still sell G dongles they can't be more than $10-15. N dongles are probably closer to $20. If you absolutley cannot connect there's a google doc out there with mac addresses for HomePass relays you may be able to add your Modem's mac address to, but I'm not sure who you need to contact to add it:

Make sure you have your internet connection sharing from your ethernet to your WiFi Miniport ("Wireless Network Connection 3") or if it is, turn it off, apply, then turn it back on and re apply. Sometimes the internet sharing can fudge up and quickly toggling it off and back on again usually fixes it

I'm not sure what to suggest, but if its any help this is the video tutorial I used to get mine working. It is centered on getting the EON ticket for pokemon OR/AS but the method is the same, just change the mac address to the relevant one for your homepass data.
