My WII U is messed up. My external HDD stopped working properly (I can't see it in data management, I can't format it, but... I know at least one of my digital games are on it and I can play it...)

I also get an error when trying to install system update 5.3. I was thinking it may be because of having a hacked vWii so I foolishly started messing with it, and now I have no vulnerable IOS and I cannot get the hackmii installer to run. I forgot where the initial freeze was, but now it has progressed to freezing as soon as it says "valid elf image detected". I don't know what to do, but I have compiled elf versions of software that can tell me about IOS versions and patches and all of my versions are correct for the vWii, and none of them are patched!

Anyway, while frantically throwing everything I had at it, trying to get it to work again (now there's nothing I can do to install/delete/modify IOS files, so I'm stuck) I found out that I can download all the correct versions of IOSs with NUS if I just change the 00000001 to a 00000007 for every IOS (and it will download the latest (correct...only?) versions for vWii. I end up with WAD files for them too, but there are some kind of error messages with the decrypting and size mismatches with the tickets...

Please someone just do that to see what I'm talking about and let me know if these wads are ok to install! Just click any IOS in the database, and remove the version number and change that 1 to a 7 (and have your settings set to make a wad).

If they're ok to use, great. If an update to de/encrypting the downloads needs to be done in the NUS downloader... 1)is the source available? and 2) are the keys needed to fix it available (or dumpable from the vWii?)

I'm mainly curious because I have been reading thread after thread of people saying you can't download vWii IOS from NUS. I'm pretty sure I did it. I also updated my NUS database so I can just click on one and click download.

You can download it, but with no key to decrypt it the files are useless.
aaannndd... this is where I **cked up my vWii. I'm quite sure I messed up IOS58 by reinstalling a messed up version I downloaded.
2 things still confuse me though:

1) I googled and *thought* I had found a valid wad of vWii IOS58, and I used hashtab to check between that wad, and the one I downloaded with NUS. They had the same hashes... I was assuming someone had extracted that from Their dump, and wads made that way were safe to install.

2) xyzzy works and dumps the keys, right? Are there more keys that haven't been found yet? Or does the NUS downloader just need an update (either to use the new keys, or to use keys dumped by the user)>

There are lots of different keys. The vWii common key is what you need to pack a wad, and we don't have that yet. Can you run the HBC?

Not anymore... I can't even run the installer. IOS58 is definitely messed up, so running syscheck freezes on it. How did I run syscheck? I CAN launch WiiMODlite1.1 from the Eri Hakawaii thing... it has a homebrew launcher thing, so that's a start, and an anytitle deleter (which I just used to delete IOS249 and was able to exit that, open the wad manager, and install what I thought was an already vWii moded 249 [base 56], but when I reloaded IOS249 after that, it still says AHBPROT Disabled and shows no other hacks on it.

Funny thing is, I was able to reinstall the .wad of the v58I installer channel back after that as well (did anytitledeleter enable something that stayed inmemory that let the wad manager work?).
I think I can get the IOS58 fixed, but I need to locate a correct wad.

so... xyzzy can't dump the vWii common key? Is it in a different location?

ahh... heck. I can't figure out exactly how I got the .wad to install (for v58I installer channel), but it worked just fine and I got IOS58 right again. However, the hackmii installer does run now, but hangs at the scam screen. What's the star for? A hack?

syscheck (even the one I compiled myself) hangs when it's time to write the .cvs file. I read somewhere else that someone had this problem after updating to Wii U software 5.3 (and mine is at 5.2 since this whole mess started because my 5.3 install keeps erroring out) Here is a screen of the hang (sorry, when I view it it isn't sideways so I don't know how to fix it. Other message boards do this as well :( )

Stop installing random stuff you find on the internet! That's how you got into this mess in the first place, and you're just making things worse. Deleting cIOS249 was another bad decision. At lease you still have 236.

I'm going to send you something to install. Load IOS236 to install it.

no, I uninstalled it and was able to re-install a cIOS 249. Anyway the PM you sent did the trick. Thank you so much for your help!

Fixed that too! I'm on 5.3 now. What I did was turn on my VPN last night (I have a US Wii U but I live in Japan) started the update download, but clicked on the "not now" button. I opened the download management, and saw that the download was still working, so I went to bed. This morning it was off, so I turned it on and pressed update again, and it started downloading the update (weird to me since I was thinking it should have been downloaded last night) and I went to work. I just now walked in during my lunch and the pad was still on with an update complete message!

so... using the VPN did it for me? Whatever. I'm now 100% good to go.

I was kind of trying to do what Jogamore said here: http://techforums.nintendo.com/message/139093

Hi Guys I think you might be able to help as I'm getting the 162-3006 error too while trying to update my WiiU to 5.3.0E.

What is the 'bad IOS/blacklisted server error' about?

I've had someone run a diagnostic test on it for free & they think it's a software problem too.
So I ran SysCheck & posted the results on a Hacksden.com & they think it's IOS15 that needs to be sorted out as it is corrupted or messed up in some way.

So does anyone know a way to reinstall IOS15 or revert it back or anything I can do to get this IOS back to it's original state?

Thanks

If you have a bad IOS or have blacklisted the nintendo servers on your router, then this error pops up.

What do you mean, for free? Its just an app. Anyone can do it.

Post your log here, if it is IOS 15, just grab it from your NAND backup and reinstall it.

I haven't added any servers to my router to blacklist & the update downloads fine, it just screws up the install.

The free diagnostic was for peace of mind in case it was a hardware problem as i'm not really sure what I'm looking for hence why I'm ask for help from you guys so thanks as every little bit helps!

SysCheck below thanks.

I did make a backup using Dump Nand but I read somewhere I couldn't use this on a vWii or Wii U something about it's not been done yet on a wii U only on a wii?

How can I get the ios15 from my dump?

After a lot of searching I think I just need someone to PM me a vWii IOS15 that I can then install with Blue Dump Mod but it has to be vWii IOS15 not a Wii version.

Anyone out there know a place or someone who has it?

Thanks

I have managed to get a vWii version of IOS 15 sent to me as a wad file.
Do I just install the wad as normal with MMM or do I need to use Blue Dump Mod?

Do you know what the name of IOS 15 is on my nand dump or the file I need to extract to use with Blue Dump Mod if this doesn't work?

Thanks guys.

Ok all fixed thanks for the help guys! If anyone else has a problem with 162-3006 give me a shout as I tried a few things.

This thread is about your problem, please actually write what you did so people can follow it without starting new threads. There's nothing worse than finding a thread thats exactly the same as your problem and it containing nothing more than "fixed lol"
