I remind you gateway HAD bricked users. Mostly because THEY created the brick code , even if it was for protection of their code , they failed and let it break some of their own users consoles , then they never repaired them even after promising. And also we still currently have the brick code on ( even if it's not needed because clones can't keep up anymore and they have shown they can copy new things without brick code attached)

What is the region of your 3DS? Which format? Classic? XL? (LL in japan)

Japanese firmware is 9.1.0.20, so that may be the problem?

Did you use the "Format Emunand" function? If yes, the SD card is formatted and if I'm right, preinstalled games are stocked on the SD card so that may be the problem.

About the 3D light, I don't know. I just know XL (LL in japan) 3D light is off when it's disabled, contrary to regular 3DS where the 3D light is on even when the slider is off.

Parental control can also block the 3D, so you might want to check that.

I also saw a report of someone that said his system nand got updated to 9.0 when he did the online update, but he was using the 2.2 launcher version and so, that might be why he got this bug (link here : http://www.maxconsole.com/maxcon_fo...d-9-0-0-20U-will-put-you-on-OFFICIAL-FIRMWARE), because people who updated to 9.x with 2.3b launcher didn't got their system nand updated, just got a bricked emunand.

I have the 3DS XL, European. Not sure what you mean by classic. It's a plain black one that came bundled with Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.

I only formatted EMUNand ages ago, when I first installed EMUNand. Yesterday all I did was copy the launcher onto the SD, boot up EMUNand, then System Update it. As for the 3D light, it's now always off, regardless of whether I'm in SYSNand or EMUNand, in game or in the main menu, 3D on or off - and I've tried every permutation of the aforementioned. 3D works just fine both in game and in menus, so like I said, I'm really not bothered. Just wondering what happened to the light

Other than that, everything works perfectly. I put the 2.4b launcher in my SD card, updated EMUNand (works fine, themes, e-shop, everything), my SYSNand is still 4.5 and Gateway plays games as normal.

When I say "classic", I mean the original 3DS (the first version) to differenciate it from the xl.

That's weird for the light. Maybe it's a bug of 9.x firmware that is not related with emunand? Would be interesting to check on official forums if some people complain about that.

What is weird is that the eshop says I have 460 yens remaining. How is that possible when I just created my Nintendo ID ?!

And even if the guy that had it before me still had some money left, I don't really see how it can find it when I formated the system several times and switched for another SD Card. With the serial?

Or is it some money they are giving to newcomers to buy themes or something?

• I currently have a 3ds xl with gateway working (yesterday updated to 2.3b), how i update to 2.4? Just replacing the new Loader.dat file in the sd?
• I read around the forum that someone has updated their "emunand" to have the latest firmware but keeping the 4.x. How it works and i could do that? Could you please give me details about it. Are there brick risks? Thanks

those games already worked before this release, the sole reason of the latest release is to bring emunand compatibility for 9.x firmware, hence granting us eshop access again, the reason why they didn't work for you, apparently is, because you got no emunand, those games require a higher firmware version and that was already possible with the 2.3b release + updated emunand
yes, just replace the launcher.dat
the process should be explained in the gw manual files... but basically, you back up your sd card data (the one in your 3ds, not the gateway micro sd), then you launch the gateway menu by holding down L while you launch the exploit, then select format emunand, when the process is done, your sd card is 1 gb smaller, this is the hidden emunand partition, now copy back the data to your sd card, that you stored on your pc previously, if you did not do that backup, then your data is lost
now, whenever you start gateway mode, you also launch into emunand
inside emunand go to settings, if you see GW 4.X, then you are in emunand, now DON'T exit settings, this would send you back to system NAND, so like I said, don't leave the settings, but directly update from within the settings menu, if it does say GW 4.X
after the update you will be booted back into sysnand 4.X and when you lauch the gateway exploit, you will be on emunand 9.0


edit: also, just in case, make a backup of your 4.x NAND jsut in case something goes haywire and you accidentally update your sys nand, in that case you can hire someone for a hardmod and flash the 4.x nand back

Just change the "Launcher.dat" file on your SD card. Then either just update actual emunand 8.x, or format it and then update it (both should be okay).

I was just about to do the update, It's already downloaded and just needed applying, for some reason I decided to do it through the eshop, it asked if i wanted to go to system settings so I said yes. I'm almost certain it threw me back into systemnand, I noticed something different with the 'internet' box and bars. I suggest nobody updates this way.

Never try to update through eShop or the update nagging at home screen, always use the system options to do it so you avoid a system reset (by now it's the safest way).

The new emuNand (9.0-20) is a little bit laggy here

The version 9 of system menu is at fault here, seems that the themes implementation isn't optimized at all. I have a USA 3DS XL and a Japanese 3DS XL with updated sysNand that started to be laggish to mount the home screen icons.

Unless your 3DS XL/LL is a special model or a modded system, I think that every unit on this model doesn't have a 3D LED indicator at all.

Yeah, formatting is only useful if you got the black screen (if you updated to 9.x with 2.3b launcher), if not, it's not required. I suppose the gateway installer wipe the emunand partition when it update anyway.

Edit : I confirm japanese 3DS are updated to "9.1.0.20-J" (instead of "9.0.20-U/E" for american/european 3DS) and that it's still working fine on the emunand.

And so, I also confirm that the japanese 3DS can access the eshop, as emunand is updated to the last version.

Version 9.1.0.20-J seems to be the same as 9.0.20-U/E, the thing is that the Version 9.0.20-J was missing the Change Theme icon, seems that Nintendo tried to launch the japanese theme shop only at New 3DS launch day.

Try searching for the tool to patch your ROMs so they work as Cart2 on official english gateway's forums, and try to do a diagnostic check, if you have fail at SPI tests you can try to fix it. If it gives you a PASS, maybe your microSD slot on gateway is faulty (my 1st gateway started to not read some ROMs properly and then fail at everyone after loading them before the spring on microSD slot broke).

just go to eshop and use the search word "patch", then you can see all updates, decide for yourself, which ones you might need or not
I just downloaded all of them, why bother thinking, when they are so small anyway?

When you go to your Settings and get to the part where you see the Nintendo DS Profile button, hold down L on your 3DS, then press the Nintendo DS Profile button and keep it held down. This will launch the Gateway menu where you can proceed to back up/format/create an emuNAND, etc. At this point, you can let go of the L button.
