I'm kinda disappointed. That CPP makes my little 3ds more comfortable to hold, regardless of the extra stick. I also imagine it couldn't be too difficult to implement. If the new 3ds (N3DS?) uses the extra analog stick with SSB, I wonder if there would be any tactical advantage to playing with it? I wish they let this news out earlier though. On the bright side, I won't have to remove the larger battery I have! This appeals to my lazy side, which is the side I typically find myself catering to.

Ok, that's it, never gonna buy a nintendo product again (and I wanted to get a wii u, but this is just absurd).
Nintendo's just being an ass at this point

A second analog isn't that useful nor necessary in Smash Bros. Heck, I always played this game using the gamecube controller and never knew you could use the C-stick for smash attacks until a friend told me. I still use the old fashioned way though. Sure, it would be nice if they did implement the CPP, but it's not like it breaks the game not having a second analog anyway.

True, it doesn't hinder normal play in any way, but once you've learned to integrate the c-stick into your aerial game, it feels so much more natural. I'm sure everyone without a New 3DS will adapt eventually.

That's bullshit, why can't the circle pad pro work with game if it supports a C stick, does the circle pad on the left side work or do you got to buy the New 3DS to even play the game?

Nintendo has become a totalarian regime.

I wonder if they did this so regular 3DS/XL models wouldn't have an advantage over the New models. (since CPP is bigger and presumably better and more comfortable than the New C-Stick) Because as we all know Smash is a highly competitive fighting game and enforcing a level playing field with the controls on a handheld port of the game is of utmost importance. Games aren't supposed to be fun!:whip:

C-sticking is not only useful for doing smashes.
It allows u to have a much better control of your aerial attacks
- Aerial from every direction without moving an inch.
- Backward aerial while moving foward.
- Allows u an up aerial safely without triggering a double jump
- Safer way to Down aerial without triggering a fast fall.

Really, it allows u a better approach. That's how useful C-sticking is.

Eh, like I expected, the New 3DS's C-Stick and ZL/ZR button are most likely mapped directly into memory (similair to all other buttons), while with CPP devs had to write routines to connect via IR and then read buttons. In other words - they got lazy and just said a big "F$#@ you" to CPP owners.

You're actually not the first one saying it. I think this has to do with the amiibo pheripheral coming into play sonce it's probably use IR connectiviy... Which will make CPP impossible. D:

hypothetically isn't it possibly to include a setting in the options menu somewhere to let users toggle between amiibo and CPP?

It would be. Nintendo just never cared about CPP to begin with. Only like 2 of their own games used it, and one of them wasn't even advertised to do so (Steel Diver Sub Wars).

and with smash 3ds it would be useful for pivot cancel smashes

I'm curious, will games that made use of the CPP that are already out, immediately function correctly with the C-stick and LZ and RZ buttons of the new 3DS? I assumed they would, but this news actually has me questioning that.
