Hacking Problems hacking a Wii

So I got given a Wii today for free, and thought Id have a go at hacking it. I've done a few before (albeit years ago) but this time for some reason I'm having issues.

I used the Modmii program, using the Mac Address method. Copied all this to an SD card, inserted into Wii and now have the homebrew channel installed. This is as far as I have got.

If I open the homebrew channel I just get the bubbles floating up and nothing else. This is how the layout of my SD card is:

In here are folders:

Hackmii_Installer
IOS236-v5-Mod
mmm
MyMenuifyMod
Priiloader
SIP
Homebrew_Browser

In each folder is various files the I assume Modmii put on. In Homebrew Browser there is:

Boot.dol
Icon
loop
meta
settings

Basically, I just cannot get anything to show up in the homebrew channel. I've tried a differnt SD card (although this SD card was fine 30 minutes beforehand for hacking the Wii, and I get the same results.

If i press 1 on the homebrew channel, then Internal SD Slot is highlighted so it knows it is there.

I've tried a USB pen drive also. This gives me the same results. (USB drive is highlighted in homebrew channel so it also knows it is there)

I assume I'm missing something really simple, question is, what is it?

Hi! Maybe is a SD problem, try again with the USB Drive but format it in FAT32. And try with just one app in the drive.

Yeah I've tried a USB pen drive already with fat 32. Its still giving me the same problems for some reason

Delete the apps and try again with just one app/folder in X:\apps

Your problem is you need an apps folder at the root

/apps/homebrew browser

Might be called app not sure but that is the problem.

Edit: I just noticed it is in in the right folders hmm so yeah there is something else going on. You might try rehacking just using letter bomb?

Ok will will have to look at what this letterbomb is.

All i did was the Wiibrand exploit I belive (from ModMii)

Try rehacking with Letterbomb, and see if that solves your problem

I would start from scratch just using the letter bomb if not that than use the mac address version found here on the forum.

EDIT: i don't remember if i used the HackMii installer o another app, cause i have Motion Plus Wiimotes and HackMii has some incompatibility with those Wiimotes

OK so I managed to get this working after what seems like an age. The original first 2 SD cards, whilst fully working in the Wii (and both able to hack the wii) were not working with any apps for some reason. The USB pen drive I was using also would not pick up any apps. A second pen drive also wouldn't work. Eventually, I took a Micro SD card out of my Note 2, popped it in a Micro SD - SD Adapter and that worked fine so can now install away! I never knew wii's were so finicky!
