Might be a shot in the dark, but it seems quite the coincidence that Black ops 2 has recieved some DLC today, as well as the impending MK8 content. Some nice deals on the Eshop yesterday and today. Obviously to take advantage of these you need the latest firmware, which blocks the current browser exploit.

Well played Nintendo.

Call of Duty is not a Nintendo property and Nintendo is not its publisher. As such, Nintendo doesn't control what DLC is released for the games and when - Activision does. Moreover, how is it in any shape or form connected to exploits, which are patched by system updates, not DLC?

No Nintendo gamer gives a fuck about Call of Duty and Mario Kart 8's DLC was already planned before. eShop has shitty deals so not really a lot will go for it.

Stop trying to make Nintendo seem like they're attempting to the Wii U better. :P

Why not? I played each and every CoD title on the Wii, I don't understand why you'd assume such things. If Nintendo gamers don't give a f*ck about AAA releases, they should consider giving a f*ck or their system will never get any third-party support.

Like, even the original Wii ones? Because those definitely weren't AAA games.

Nintendo gamers buy Nintendo consoles to play Nintendo exclusives not multiplatforms.

Nintendo doesn't have to worry about Nintendo gamers - Nintendo gamers will buy whatever shlock they put up and they'll be happy either way. Nintendo should worry about new target audiences, about extending their reach to non-Nintendo gamers and making them Nintendo gamers, because from what I'm seeing, judging by the cumulative Wii U sales over the course of almost two years, there's f*ck-all declared Nintendo gamers out there.

EDIT: To elaborate a little bit on this, your "theory" springs from the incorrect assumption that Nintendo should make video game consoles for Nintendo gamers. They shouldn't. They should be making good video game consoles, for all customers, not just their fanbase, at least if they want to expand their market and make more money.

Please stop using Hebrew words it doesn't make you look cool or anything.

Whether Nintendo wants to attract new customers that's up to them because they already know that the Nintendo gamers are loyal to them.

No, it's not up to them - it's up to the investors who give them money for their shenanigans and expect a profit as a result. Every business on the planet has but one goal - expand and generate increasing amounts of profit. To make more profit, you need to gain new customers (among other things, such as a healthy economical structure, but I digress) and to gain new customers you need to offer products relevant to their interests. It's business 101 WiiCube - nobody says "okay, we sold 30 million units - that's it! We're shutting it down!", that's retarded. You want to sell as many units as humanly possible and then you want to push as much software per unit as possible. "We don't want more customers" - said no businessman ever.

Yeah why the fuck would Nintendo want to attract casual non fanboys to its systems? After all they are doing just GREAT catering rehashes to its oh so loyal fanbase and only lost $240 million this last fiscal year!

SHUT UP FOXI!

The casuals play on their iPhones and such, they're not bothered to buy a console for it even more so that they can just play Free to Play games on it without spending a cent (unless they want to).

Then explain to me the PS4's success. What demographic does the PS4 have?

ironic your name includes "Wii" 0yet you hate on Nintendo fan's, I would see why you would hate on fanboys but to say "Nintendo gamers" is practically dragging everyone who owns a Nintendo console over the edge. whats next? "Everyone who play COD are going to kill someone"... ohhh wait that one is already taken ;)

EDIT: also dafuq Foxi4 am I dreaming or are you actually defending the Wii U? :P

p1ngpong's post is sarcasm, he simply meant that Nintendo has to look for new outlets and new audiences, attract as many customers as possible. Just so you know, the so-called average gamer is a man in his mid-twenties.

I like the concept of the Wii U, I don't like the execution, the specs and the marketing campaign. Many things went wrong with the system and it's a little late to rectify them, but Nintendo should at the very least focus their efforts on getting third-party aboard so that their ship doesn't sink on first-party C.P.R.

There's always that one guy that has to turn a Nintendo related discussion into a pissing contest. Always.
The thread's going relatively civil, all things considered. The OP's question was conclusively answered, now we're just exchanging opinions.

Assuming it was related then Nintendo are many years late to the copying party, basically everybody else does soft encouragement for updates.

Please stop using Hebrew words it doesn't make you look cool or anything.

Was that for Foxi4 using shlock? If so that word has been well and truly loanworded at this point, one dictionary even says over 100 years at this point ( http://www.thefreedictionary.com/shlock ).
