Hacking System Update and Possible Homebrew Question

My Wii U is currently on 5.0.
For some reason, I am unable to block IPs through my Modem/Router combo. What can I do to keep system from updating? I know blocking IPs can help with this, but I am unable to do that. Thoughts appreciated

also turn off standby mode and the quick start menu meme will be turned off when u dibble standby
