Gaming is this a chinese ds lite battery?

I might need a battery for ds lite soon but the problem is nintendo doesn't accept foreign credit cards and I dont think I can get it ship here. could anyone tell if this is battery is genuine? ebay]

It looks legit but there's a chance it may not be. If you buy it then don't be shocked if it is fake. Not to mention ebay is kind of suspicious because they could use any old picture and description and then send you something different but not different enough that you could open a dispute about it on ebay.

Quality varies depending on manufacturer and location but most of anything electronic we own is china-made. So to answer your question literally, yes the dsi battery is made in China. All dsi batteries are, genuine or knockoff.

Nintendo batteries are China made, Knockoff batteries are china made. They differ in manufacturers. If the picture of the battery is a true representation of the actual product, then the battery is likely OEM (genuine) because of the Nintendo logo. I don't think even 3rd party manufacturers are allowed to print and sell products with that brand without some sort of consent.

I don't think even 3rd party manufacturers are allowed to print and sell products with that brand without some sort of consent.

Just because the Nintendo logo is there, doesn't mean its official. Counterfeiting is a HUGE problem, especially in China. I've received some pretty good "counterfeits" unknowingly, to find out they weren't genuine upon close inspection. Some companies are better at replicating logos then others. Is this practice illegal, of course, NO MATTER WHAT COUNTRY its coming from. Patent/Trademark laws are pretty uniform worldwide now. The only discrepancies are generally how long they're valid for. And also software patents are HUGE grey area, but I digress.

Ebay and other similar marketplaces are actually kind of like safe havens for counterfeiters as just about anyone in the world can sell just about anything they want (as long as it isn't blatantly obvious that its illegal or violates Ebays policies). Despite all this, that battery you listed is going for around $8 USD right now, so you don't have much to lose. If it ends up being junk, you're only out about $8. There's no real way of knowing if the battery they're selling is legitimate or not without having it in hand. I say go for it, its only $8 .

If its garbage leave the seller awful feedback to warn others to stay away from them for counterfeiting and selling crap . If they get enough complaints, ebay will terminate their account and ban them permanently

A counterfeirter thats already making a profit is going to go after Nintendo by suckering people looking for a deal, not trying to compete with the real deal. Their profits per unit would be much better, but you'll sell more batteries selling for $3 than $8 and people looking to scam a quick buck are that, quick. They also have to compete with other counterfeit players so they're going to be competing with other counterfeit prices, not Nintendo. Especially for obscure parts like batteries for outdated handhelds. Its not that its impossible the listing is fake, just saying its more likely its not. The red flag is that it's on Ebay.

But that's not to say I wouldn't take my chances and buy it anyway. It's not much money to lose if it turns out to be fake. And fake does not necessarily mean terrible quality.

I'd been screwed on eBay. Out of the 140+ separate items I've ordered (2 on the way right now), I've been screwed over four times with a counterfeit item, and each of those four times I received a refund.
I've also been screwed on Amazon. Out of the 90 exact items I've ordered (2 on the way right now) I've been screwed over 2 times with a counterfeit item, and each of those two times I received a refund.
I've also been screwed over misc. tech sites, many of which that were recommended sellers by GBATemp themselves and received no refunds. I'd say that GBATemp is indirectly responsible for me losing give or take $400 that I never got refunded, some of the 1st income I've ever earned, sometimes never even got the product be it fake or not.

I'd argue that shopping on eBay is not a red flag, and that it's buyer protection goes a much longer way than similar experiences that you'd get off sites that aren't mainstream. Yes scammers prowl on eBay, but they also prowl every where else, and if you're going to shop online, its much wiser using shopping sites that has such generous buyer protection and customer satisfaction policies, than from many other sites. I'd rather use sites with a few counterfeits, than use a site thats just counterfeit (I'm looking @ you DealXtreme and other chinese venders). I mean just try getting a refund, or taking back an item to one of those sites. Unless you want to pay full-price from Nintendo themselves, if they still even sell batteries, I'd suggest that eBay is the one and only place you'd want to get a battery.

True. I've also received fake SanDisks on DX, with less capacity than stated.
