Hacking Youkai Ghost 2 requires FW 8.0

Just a heads up to anyone looking forward to playing this.
Players from duowan stated that the game won't run on Gateway 2.2 and it requires FW 8.0.
I fear for the future titles now.

I just started playing the original Youkai Watch and it seems pretty good. Is it the fact that the sequel needs FW 8.0 or that you need that firmware to access the eshop to get the day one patch? They released a critical patch for it immediately that must be downloaded.

Well if you can't upgrade the emunand to 8.0, isn't that a problem if you want to play the game if it requires 8.0?

I don't use emunand and i'm playing games with firmware 7.0 ? hello ? firmware spoofing? The game doesn't need anything of the firmware it justs has a firmware requirement so people keep their consoles updated. That's when firmware spoofing comes and tells them what they want to hear so they run. The games that don't run just have the new protection , it's not fault of 7.0 , 8 .0 , or other shet

let me explain this to those of you who shouldn't even own a gateway if you didn't know the following... no matter what firmware a game "Requires" when firmware spoofing comes into play...say your on emunand firmware 7.2 and you put a rom on there that requires 8.0 firmware but has sdk 6 YOUR GOOD TO GO! firmware spoofing makes the game "Think" your running 8.0 so it boots...however...when u get a game that uses the new sdk... i believe its still at 7? your screwed.. i dont know for this title what sdk it uses but unless its an AAA title it probably uses 6 or lower firmware requirement doesn't matter unless theres something new that bypasses the firmware spoof that gateway has came up with

All of the current 3DS flashcards already do it, so no, it's not really hypothetical.

Not sure if the problem is the above mentioned sdk or the fact that there is a day 1 essential patch. Just read through google translations on a chinese forum and it seems they state that it just doesn't work with no details. The game is selling like crazy in Japan. Over a million copies in a few days, I have a US unit so I wouldn't be able to patch it anyway when the eshop works again. I might just buy a Japanese 3ds.

it's got nothing to do with the patch, unless the game is BROKEN no matter what until you install the patch, but, that's basically impossible.
so patch or not, the game should work (but it doesn't since gateway has not released their update yet)

this game DOES require fw 8/7 (for the newer keys stuff), it is not about spoofing, spoofing is just like... 'pretending', like, it says it needs 8.0 but in fact it would work fine on 4.0.
but this needs more than pretending, without the newer firmware functionality, the game WILL NOT PLAY, it's not really based on the number on your fw version here.


-plus, i don't mind that we can't play the game yet because... i haven't got all the youkai in the first one yet! haha... i completed it all, mugen jigoku etc etc, but up until a few weeks ago i was trying to get every youkai, but i got a bit busy. i'll still keep trying, but some take like an hour to get, there is a lot of luck involved, much much more than pokemon.

By the way, would you happen to know of any Japanese forums where people talk about Youkai Watch to trade, play with each other etc.? I've been trying to find one to no avail. I think my Japanese is good enough to communicate on them.

if your japanese is good enough then you should be able to find them yourself (joking)

Thanks. I had already found that site though. I was hoping for more like a gamefaqs.com like environment. When I was playing animal crossing I remember finding a good Japanese site where I was able to trade for stuff. I thought maybe the first game supported trading. I know the second game does. How about streetpass? If I make a homepass setup and get some Japanese hits, can I get goodies that way?

hmm you'll have to read about it, i think i read something about street pass, that you can see other people's youkai or something the game has a manual on the 3ds menu so i guess that will contain useful information about online stuff, and i'm sure there are some nice community sites around somewhere.
for the streetpass thing, well it depends it 'japanese people' are using the homepass stuff like we do, i think the reason nintendo let us have the relays was that outside of japan, it is harder to get hits just walking around. so maybe in japan not many people use the relays like the people do on gbatemp.
but sure it's worth a try
