No, i think :) you can install forwaders but not full channels, because full channels can brick your wii, but of full you can install channels of Virtual console, but not unofficials, you can install Dios Mios, and dios mios booter forwader with no problem, i installed like 6 forwaders and i have not problem, just dont turn off your console when you are installing :)

Installing any channel can cause a brick, but most existing ones are made properly. So that means there will only be a chance of bricking if installation is done improperly for whatever reason.

If you don't have it done already, install Priiloader. I suppose there's a chance of bricking if that fails (IIRC there was an old version that could fail if you didn't have any working Internet settings), but once it's installed, you would be able to remove problematic channels.

First, don't follow old tutorials randomly. it's more dangerous to follow outdated tutorials than installing wads to your wii.
Installing DIOS MIOS wad is not dangerous (as long as you are sure it's DIOS MIOS and not something else), as there's no banner animation (so you can't "banner brick"), and that IOS is not loaded at console launch.

Of course, installing anything to the Wii is dangerous, if something bad happen (electricity cut, corrupted NAND, etc.)
But it's true for official channel installation from eshop too.

You don't need hermes v5 or cIOS rev20
Current latest cIOS is "cIOS d2x v10" and "cIOS d2x v10-alt".

If a wad manager asks you to choose a IOS, it's also an old wad manager.
Now, managers don't need cIOS anymore to install Wads to the wii.

If you want to install a Wad for USBLoaderGX, install the forwarder Wad (named "UNEO"), don't install the full channel (named "UNLR").
The full channel is too old.
The forwarder channel lets you launch the USBLoaderGX program located on your SD card. This way, you can easily update the program on your SD card without reinstalling the channel every time.

so that means i can already launch games from my ntfs drive or i need to install cios d2x v10 (sorry for asking a ton of stuff i know it gets annoying)
edit:can you tell me a wad manager that doesnt asks for ios(i think MultiModManager doesnt asks for ios)

You will need to install cIOS'es, preferably latest ones. I also suggest switching from NTFS to FAT32 - NTFS support is buggy and experimental at best. Wii Backup Manager will split any images over 4GB for you anyways.

That's odd. Is it Windows restricting you from formatting it to FAT32? Wii Backup Manager should do it just fine unless the drive is larger than 2TB. Yes, you will need to install cIOS, regardless of which filesystem you use, I'm just recommending FAT32 because using NTFS might cause unexpected issues.

yes, MultiModManager is using AHB access instead of cIOS.

FAT32 is recommended because it works with other homebrew too!
Emulators, EmuNAND, Gamecube backups, etc.
You can format to FAT32 with any tools like FAT32Format if you are on windows.

You can use syscheck to see which cIOS version you have in your slot 249 and slot 250.
If it's older than d2x v8, then you need to update to v8 or v10

v8: latest "officially released" stable version.
v10 Normal : Supports more HDD than v8. most stable version, best compatibility with WiiWare, doesn't work with Port1
v10 alternative: Supports more HDD than v8. less stable with Wiiware, but supports Port0 and Port1

If you don't intend to use two HDD at the same time, install V10 (not Alt).

Slot249:
what: D2x v10
base: IOS56
version: 21010

Slot250:
what: D2x v10
base: IOS57
version: 21010
