As much as I enjoy polished and realistic visuals, the idea of "mature" appearances seems to often constitute a very drab set of colors. It's not like green, blue, and purple are any less "mature" than brown, copper, tan and sandy desert grey are. Like with the E3 tech demo for Zelda, it looks fantastic, but has an incredibly dulled set of colors.

I'm tempted to say that the so-called "hardcore Nintendo audience" ranges around 30 million users, hence the "similar" sales numbers for many of Nintendo's franchises. The reason why people groan about specs of their devices is that most people want to own one gaming device that suits all their needs, and that's just not possible on a low-end one that doesn't get all the big name multiplatform releases. If you're into gaming strictly for Nintendo content, a Nintendo system will suit you well regardless of the specs. If you want a little bit more than that, chances are that you'd like to have a bit more juice.

I seriously need to start keeping my smart-ass comments to myself so I'm not tempted to interject with snarky remarks. My point is if people can come up with childish epithets to Nintendo fans, the same could be done of Microsoft and Sony fans, because the bias for either company on here is very imbalanced. You'd think it'd be a crime to like a specific company or something I like Sony and Nintendo, but hate Microsoft in the game console dept.

The Nintendo consoles from the 7th generation (Wii,DS) are a step behind their competitors when it comes to graphics, even the 3DS is behind. Aren't people used to this?
The Wii U's graphics are fine for me, and I don't think they're that outdated. Nintendo's games are cartoonish, so it's enough for them to get the job done but I also think it's good enough for the third-party developers to develop their current gen games.

The thing that bugs me about MK8 is the paper crowd in game.

I believe that it's always more important that a game relies on having great gameplay over graphics, and while I think Nintendo devs tried their to give Wii U owners the best graphics on the system on games such as Mario Kart 8, Super Mario 3D World and Sonic Lost World these games while they look stunning do have graphical flaws here and there so they somewhat disappoint in its graphical department.

Now I'm not saying they look bad, they're pretty nice looking but considering we're in 2014 it feels like the graphics could've been better.

Still, Sonic Lost World is definitely the best looking Wii U game to date everything about it looks gorgeous and if anyone were to get the one game which shows Wii U's graphical potential at its maximum, SLW is the pick!

Graphics are important to games and to say otherwise is stupid. You like to play good looking games as much as the next guy, asking for your games to have a certain level of aesthetic pleasure is not being a "graphics whore".

Yes I am sure that Mariokart 8 sold a shitload, Wii U owners have literally had nothing of note to play in ages, what else are they going to buy? If I throw some rotten meat at a group of starving dogs they will eat it up after all.

And Mariokart selling 35 million on the Wii means nothing, there were 100 million Wii owners out there to buy Mariokart wii. Do you seriously think Mariokart 8 will sell anywhere near that? Because if you do you are delusional when the Wii U has sold 6 million consoles in almost three years.

You do know you are comparing Day 1 sales of MKwii to 4 days of MK8 sales, right?

It's not that big of a difference. MKwii sold a lot because there are a lot of Wiis out there, MK8 will not sell a lot, because there are not a lot of WiiU's out there.
