I believe that it's always more important that a game relies on having great gameplay over graphics, and while I think Nintendo devs tried their to give Wii U owners the best graphics on the system on games such as Mario Kart 8, Super Mario 3D World and Sonic Lost World these games while they look stunning do have graphical flaws here and there so they somewhat disappoint in its graphical department.

Now I'm not saying they look bad, they're pretty nice looking but considering we're in 2014 it feels like the graphics could've been better.

Here's some screens I've took from games I've been playing on my Wii U:

Still, Sonic Lost World is definitely the best looking Wii U game to date everything about it looks gorgeous and if anyone were to get the one game which shows Wii U's graphical potential at its maximum, SLW is the pick!

I dont know dude. I think is better what you do with your graphic than have more graphic power.
These pictures look pretty good for me and remember me the game cube age, whren the effects was stuning and not like one other system.

The Zelda Wii U teaser they showed this year looked pretty impressive, they captured a lot of detail in that overworld they showed.

I doubt it, these games only show the capabilities of a different style game and are not showing its power capabilities in a more realistic type of game such as Xbox's gears of war or PS uncharted. I don't think Nintendo really max out the Wii u and it's potential but I could be wrong

I call bullshit, the hardware hasn't been used to the fullest yet, don't assume it has without actual proof, screenshots not only don't do it justice, but are not a good way to prove it. Also, you failed to show screens from games like Splinter Cell Blacklist, AC IV, etc.

Its not about the power, its what you do with it. This is clearly Nintendo's mindset. And when you look at the quality of their first and second party games, you understand why this is the case. If there is one thing Nintendo is aware of it is that the gameplay and whether one deems the game a fun experience or not is what matters most. Having said that, I'd really have to be some stuck up asshole to look at those screenshots and complain that they look "outdated." The games look fine, no not just fine, they look beautiful, if you really can't look at those graphics and not see some pretty looking games, then you're just one of those graphical snobs that I really don't think has much insight to give on the matter of what makes a game good or not.

Wii U is still in its infancy, the system is clearly not being pushed to its limits yet, have you seen devils third? Or the in game engine trailer of Zelda? And that's not all. I think is pretty ignorant to say Wii u has reached its fullest graphical capabilities at such an early stage.

I think this runs true, not with Wii U, but 3DS.

I mean the graphics in more recent 3DS titles couldn't hold a candle to some of the 2011-2012 titles. The low-poly is really becoming obvious.

"If you disagree with me, you're an asshole."

If nothing matters but the gameplay, then why are you so defensive about the visuals?

These screenshots aren't impressive, especially compared to what the other machines are doing (especially the PC), but that's not a crime. The Wii U's in the same position as the Wii when it comes to graphics. The machine is running outdated tech compared to its competitors, though some of the developers will figure out how to squeeze all the power they can from the device. On the bright side, to compensate for the lack of juice, a lot of games are going to have to rely on a strong aesthetic style over simple horsepower, so at least there'll be some interesting-looking stuff out there, too.

There's no need to be upset.

Two words : iron-fall

Seriously don't judge the graphical capabilities of a system for the games that are already out or in development, a different art style or more complex models could give better graphics, I was amazed by the ground zeros graphics, a game that came out at the end of ps3 and surpassed various games graphics (in my opinion).

OP, you didn't exactly choose the best moments in those games to show off graphical complexity/quality, did you? Nope. And Mario 3D World wasn't included in your samples, but some Lego shit was?! Still, if your point is that Wii U's graphics are always going to be just catching up, if that, to the competition ... duh. The Wii U released first, and costs the least, and what 3rd party support is does get is mostly motivated at getting the grandma bucks (you know, when grandma goes out and buys a game for the grandkid and has no idea what she's even buying).

I'm having a five-star good time racing MK8 online, and that's what I paid for. Satisfied customer.
