Hacking FW of 3DS refurbished systems from Nintendo store???

I found that Nintendo store (NOA)is selling refurbished og 3DS for 110$+1 year warranty
I want to know if any one bought it and what is the fw,probably the chances
of being 4.5 or less is slim BUT i'm not asking about speculation though.

I would imagine that they wouldn't let one exploitable unit out of their hands, but we really don't know how old their stockpile really is. For all we know, they have a warehouse full of old refurb units that are 4.5 because that was the most current firmware at the time and that are boxed and marked ready to ship.

It's probably going to be a dice roll like it would be at GameStop, but that is just my opinion. It would be interesting to see how much the firmware versions vary between refurb units for sure.

yeah but i imagine nintendo would be more incline to go out of their way to update once the hack was released

I don't know if you really live on Christmas Island, but Radio Shack has a great sale on orig 3ds's that are both new and old at the same time. Might give them a call if your stateside.

believe me it's extremely ymmv,i asked more than 5 RS stores in my area and they are out of stock

put it this way its risky enough buying a console hoping for 4.5 before you can check, i would say ordering from the guys who definatly don't want people getting their hands on 4.5 consoles would be more risky, if buying locally really isnt an option look on ebay and ask the seller to check before you buy, most sellers won't have a problem with this....im pretty sure nintendo would though

The problem with asking this question here on this forum is rooted in what gamesquest1 just said. Most people will not take the risk of buying a console blindly on a forum about flash carts. You are effectively cutting out a huge section of the population that actually buy these systems this way.

Look at it like an epidemiology study. If you are wanting to study a disease, you don't go looking for it in an area where the disease is nonexistent. I would think that you would possibly get more answers to your question if you posted this in a general 3DS forum and leave it open ended like "Did you have to update it when you got it?" If somebody says yes, go from there to see if they remember what it was on.

Interesting,it seems the regular 3DS been discontinued in US
if you check Nintendo official website it used to be all 3 (XL,2ds,2DS) available,now just 3DS XL and 2DS

I bought two refurbished consoles from the Nintendo online store in late 2013. If I recall correctly one was on 5.1 and the other was on 6.2, so I wouldn't bank on getting one below 4.5 today.
