it's nice to see what the move list is, not all the moves are just 'down and b', read the move descriptions, read all the keychains, etc
Having a partial/total English script hidden inside the Japanese version is not a given.
While it did happen with Epic Yarn (and was actually complete, playable and all), I can say it wasn't in most of the DS games, like the recent Kirby Mass Attack.

Tbh they make games originally in Japanese then localize it (regardless of the order regions get the game), so leaving a hidden already made Japanese option is not that unlikely (and often when games get cancelled in Japan this becomes the only way to play them in Japanese, case in point the last Advance Wars game).
The reverse is what's actually very unlikely
sure, i understand/know, just i have played a bunch of games on my (japanese) 3ds, and only yoshi loaded up in japanese
(and no other roms i played did)but cool i didn't know about that advance wars game, i never played it, i didn't like the look of it, too serious
No thats pretty funny, but I have gotten second way through the second world. But while playing it dawned on me that maybe you guys figured out some way. Because games usually have a language option.
unfortunately not anymore really, unless the game supports languages that are not supported officially in the 3ds system, like, swedish etc.
none of the games i have played apart from pokemon, bravely default, and dead or alive, let you select the language, they just read the language setting from your 3ds.
Usually not with the japanese release. There is usually only one option, unless the game is getting a worldwide release like pokemon.
