1. How do I tell if a r4i gold 3ds deluxe flashcart is real, not a clone?
2. Is the 3ds that has a firmware of 4.5 or lower made in 2012 all throughout? Meaning is there anytime in 2012 that there would be a firmware higer than 4.5?

1. It's ridiculous to buy the R4i 3DS Deluxe Flash cart at this point, go for Gateway or MT-card, but anyway it's real if it works with their firmware. I doubt anyone is going to clone them anyway.

Would you guys judge if the serial number of a 3ds xl is sw133474563 has a <4.5 firmware? I read the faqs page already, but I judt want to make sure

It would most likely have above 4.5. (If you're talking about a red/black or blue/black 3DSXL)

The highest I've seen blue/black is in the SW1274 range that had 4.5FW, and I have a SW1099 red that came with 4.4 (and I've seen a SW1033 red with 4.2)

For Blue/Black, any SW13 and higher will most likely have 5 FW, and anything with SW4 will most definitely be 6.2 or higher.

Copyright 2012 really means jack these days. The S/N is the only way to tell. Look around though, I'm still able to find a ton of exploitable systems these days. Check small stores, and even a place like Toys'r'Us. The local TRU had about a dozen systems, and they price match every major retailer.

How would I find the serial number of a 3ds xl if the serial number is on the actual console itself, meaning I would have to open the box to look at it? How would I determine?

It's on the outside of the box on the top as well. Looks like a bar code.
