Would it be at all possible to mod an Xbox One controller to work on the Wii U? Are there any working adapters to make this possible? I'm very displeased with the design of the Wii U Pro Controller due to the right joystick being swapped with the position of the buttons. I've tried third party controllers such as Nyko's Pro Commander, but the buttons just don't feel nearly as responsive as I would like them to be. Today when at Gamestop I tried the Xbox One controller and I absolutely loved it. Do you guys know if this would be possible?

Ugh, so sad to hear that. I wish I could find something that feels as solid as an official controller that has the Xbox controller layout.

It's nice to hold, I don't believe I'll ever find myself adapting to the right joystick being located on top. I believe they went with that layout to mimic the design of the Wii W Gamepad. While it works for something large like the gamepad, I'm fairly sure any FPS player would agree that for the sake of precision the joysticks location isn't optimal. I would be so happy if they made another controller that looked like this: http://i.imgur.com/27MXAcI.png.
Anyhow, this thread wasn't really intended to be for discussing preference, I was more just trying to understand what was possible and what wasn't. I guess there's no hope other than maybe trying to mod the third part controllers so that the buttons work better. Unless someone has a better idea. =(

but the fact that Devolution can link up with a Wii U Pro controller to me seems like an implication that yes in theory other bluetooth controllers could possibly link up with a Wii, I coudl be way wrong about this though.

well dont have to worry about that since there are no fps on the wiiu. and if there were you would use the mote and chuck which is way better precision :P

The comment was more targeted towards games requiring similar precision. None the less, like I said before, I'd rather not get into disputing preference as we all have our own.

Hmm...I would love to know more about this. Does anyone know if this would be possible?

Sure, it's possible, when the Wii U is fully modded. Right now, you can't even run hello world or game backups, not modded at all.

Also is the Xbone controller even bluetooth? I know 360 controllers aren't, they use some proprietary protocol, which seems to be the way MS does most things, so I'd be shocked if you ever were able to get Xbone on WiiU no matter how hacked WiiU gets.

PS4 on hacked to shit WiiU, maybe someday.

Well theoretically you could gut a Wii U Pro Controller and put it in a shell of an XBOX controller... But I'm not sure if the buttons are the same size and that would require some melting/soldering to make it fit just right. (I'm thinking of major hardware mods like portable gamecubes and portable n64s.). Probably not worth the effort.

If you want a controller with Xbox layout for Wii U there's third party makers who have them available.

Nyko Pro comes to mind and it's a great controller according to the images and info, I've not bothered buying a traditional controller because I use the GamePad for all.

Take command of your favorite Wii U games with the Pro Commander, a Pro Controller alternative featuring traditional analog stick placement from Nyko Technologies. The Pro Commander wirelessly connects to the Wii U and works with any game compatible with the Nintendo Pro Controller. The analog stick layout of the Pro Commander is akin to other popular controllers, putting the action face buttons right under the thumb while also incorporating fully depressible trigger buttons. Featuring a built-in rechargeable battery, and ergonomic design, the Pro Commander is ideal for marathon gaming sessions. The Pro Commander recharges easily through the included USB cable, and can be charged during gameplay for unlimited playtime.

Oh yes, this actually comes with built in batteries so you don't have to buy it separately.

Regardless of size, the Pro buttons aren't even in the same place as on a MS controller. Nintendo put their buttons where every other pad has the right stick (and vice versa). So you'd definitely have to do some major work to get it to swap shells.

You can always desolder the analog pot and use some extending wires to change the location of the analog stick, doing the same with the buttons.

Or you can take the WiiU Pro controller board, mod it to fit the Xbox One controller shell, then you cut parts of the Xbox One controller board that contain the buttons and rewire it to the WiiU controller board.

Or you can just play as is since it's not a bit deal.
