The gamepad is weighing on the Wii U as much as the Kinect is weighing on the XBox One. Personally I like the concept of it, but it's an additional expense of aprox. $100-140 that so far hasn't been used in a particularly inspiring way by any developer other than Nintendo. It's a neat accessory, but an accessory nonetheless and considering the fact that the system could sell for $150 and likely at a profit if the gamepad wasn't a part of the bundle it sort of becomes a deal breaker. The average customer sees it like this - "ok, so I can play on this system like on a tablet... except I can't take that tablet around with me... Oh...". It's literally dead weight and I can't help but wonder how well the system would sell if it was that cheap. A lot of people don't want to pay the extra $100 for the Kinect and I feel that a lot of people don't want to pay the extra $100-140 for the gamepad when it's really not necessary 9 out of 10 times.

Either you didn't understand me, which I think is likely, or you misread something. I said "The only thing FPS games have in common are their camera angle." It's like comparing it to platformers: platformers are all the same. It's the story and other such stuff that make it unique.
