Yeah I suggested this in the thread, but just thinking about it I'm sure quite a few people would just prefer to ship locally which wouldn't cost much if there is someone close by and get it un bricked, would probably be preferred for most who don't have much technical knowledge......the pogo pin setup would be good for people offering the service for a very fast turn around though....or people who always want it handy for worst case scenarios, but for most people I think buying an arduino and the set up would be a bit much for a *hopefully* single use item

True true, suppose it's worth looking into. Suppose you could pick up a bunch of the clip on 3ds covers to use as the template for the pogo pins as well, if the battery covers are hard to find, and you should be able to get them pretty cheap

something like a charging cradle for 3ds xl would work perfectly, there is enough space in it to can place an ATmega328 inside, a quartz oscillator and an usb port with an sd card reader module, and with that you could unbrick the ds and flash a nand to it without having to solder anything... and it could be used anytime to downgrade if you accidentally upgrade your 3ds

Would be nice but for the pogo pins to work they would have to go into the case, so it's really more of a 1 time use items as you wouldn't be leaving your back cover off the 3ds all the time, and it would be much cheaper just getting the little cheapo plastic case to be used solely for that purpose then there is zero modification required to the external case when using it :)....just remove back cover, clip on the case, unlock and reflash, then replace back cover, and it all looks as good as new inside and out

If everyone followed the guides properly and had a valid nand dump everyone would be ok, the current method wipes the nand so you need to reflash your backup.....if you skipped that step.....well you will just have to wait if unlocking without wipe works :)

Expect a nice clean tutorial soon. This thread was mainly brain storming etc, still got hear if the arduino code works, but it should be fine, I'm sure anyone not comfortable performing the unlock could either send to someone local, or maybe a couple of the pogo pin setups could be made up for people to buy....give it a few days and r4 will claim they made this and no doubt be selling a cheap unlocking set-up

According to them, they already found a way to unlock the consoles... but I am sure they were waiting for us to find a way to do it and the clone it. If the arduino code works with a 3ds (no one had an arduino and a bricked 3ds, so I couldnt test the code made by me and ryuga), and if we find the password used for locking, then making an unbricking device for 3ds XL consoles will be easy and very cheap

No idea... they forgot to try that >.<
i didn't really forget it. i just saw no use in it, as inian had a nand dump and quite a few people have stated that they used the CID/ nand serial to generate a console specific key.

anyway: the code (warning, ugly as fuck frankenstein's monster code) is on https://github.com/bkifft/RPU and is released under the GPL, so modify it to your hearts content.
