If you are asking if a 3DS emulator is possible then no. But if you are asking if the 3DS can run emulators then yes. If you have the right flash card you can run GBA, GBC, SNES, Genesis, etc. emulators.

if you work in nintendo company you can make emulators and even custom firmware to run everything you desire.

everything today is possible the question is how to make it possible.

In theory the DS profile exploit allows for the running of custom code (see gateways launcher) but no one has tackled such a project yet.

In that same vain you could probably even load unsigned 3ds games if someone was able to compile them correctly.

This is really a Yes/No question, right? You are asking the audience if we think there will be 3DS-mode emulators, right?

So why isn't the option on your poll for Yes or No, the current options aren't logical for a survey.

Crass: Well, I've never done a poll and I'm assuming this was the OP's first time doing a poll too. Maybe he didn't mean for the poll to turn out like that and it can't be edited?

#ontopic I think 3DS Mode SNES and GBA emulation would be fucking AMAZING, as it'd eliminate the need to switch to a DSTWO and have to re-do the whole exploit-installation process if you wanna play 3DS games down the line (which let's face it, it's inevitable in most cases).

Emulators would require custom code, so no. Currently 3DS flashcarts only runn oficial, Nintendo-signed code, as far as I know.
False, this only applies to the initial exploit code, people are already running Homebrew on the system, it's just inconvenient to code without a unified framework like libnds. The best evidence would be the fact that we have an existing ROM loader - that requires kernel-level access. We're getting there, give it time.

profi200 Confirm/Deny? You're doing some 3DS thingamajigs in ARM Assembly, right?

Naehrwert released a python script to execute all the arm you want yesterday, but as you said without something a library its pretty inconvenient ^^

I'm waiting for something more down my alley, I'm thinking C/C++. I've never learned Python in my life and I'm already knee-deep in Java for Android development purposes, so I'll give it a pass... but the point stands, right? ;)

support emulators?

the 3DS has them built in, its just spending time modifying them

Smea did a nice photo showing you can change the ROM from a already downloaded GBC VC title

Sure, but with those you have to embed the ROM - a simple GUI would be nice. That, and I'm assuming the OP is thinking along the lines of a PlayStation emulator or some other platforms that are unavailable on Nintendo's store for obvious reasons. :P

As far as i understand the python script is able to load a normal arm payload (trying to make it work but I'm failing terribly XD) that you can code up in whatever language you like ^^

Oh? Well, that's interesting. Sounds like it's about time for me to grab a 4.5 3DS then. :)

I do, but it get's to complicated for some things and i do stuff now in C. If i don't need to do things with the coprocessor or use syscalls, i can do it all in C.

Could you provide a few things like build targets and what toolchain you are using :) ?
I understand if you don't want to but it can't hurt to ask :P

I've been learning C and want to learn Lua on the side. I've got your guide bookmarked and am using it along with e-books to learn, though i'm only a week in. Some day I hope to contribute a lot to the homebrew communities.

It's good to see young and spirited individuals entering the scene - I started off just like you and not so long ago. Hell, I started with game makers. ;) Keep up with the good work, it's really not that hard once you nail the logical basics and after mastering C, a lot of other languages will seem like trivial modifications of it - it's a very good entry point to programming. ;)

Little bit young, I got started out in the homebrew scene back around the same time the PSP was released. I've heard that C is pretty much the equivalent of Latin in spoken languages, most language are just spiritual successors or modifications of it, so I thought it made the most sense to start there.
