You'll need a dedicated GFX card.

Also, your PC is pretty sweet when it comes to medium gaming.
Ofcourse it won't compete to new ones but it's better then me lappy and me lappy runs Bioshock Infinite at 60 FPS on low GFX.

I find that its sometimes just luck with games on pc. my cousin has a shity toshiba laptop thats 7 years old(with 3gb of ram and vista) and it could play some games that my gaming pc could not.
like ninja blade would run perfectly on it but on my windows 7 gaming pc with 8gb of ram and a geforce 320gt, (not the best but it worked gr8 for me) the game would only run for 2-5 minuites before it lagged like crazy then finaly crash, i could not even finish the first battle in the game and that was like 2 into it

Do you have a graphic card for it? I have a GT 450S and I've played GTA4 without any problem.
Intel HD Graphics is a onboard gpu graphic card.

Considering this desktop is more powerful than my friend's laptop, and his laptop can run GTA 4 flawlessly, I'm not sure why you wouldn't be able to run it. Intel HD graphics aren't exactly ideal, but they are decent for a release as old as GTA 4.

Of course, do you mean you can't run it as in it won't boot up properly, or you can't run it as in it stutters too much to be played?

Its purely just the Intel HD thats holding you back in that system of yours. The rest of the PC is absolutely fine for gaming. Seeing as you are implying also that you are only gaming at 720p (from your supplied monitor specs) with a half decent graphics card in there, you could play pretty much anything at medium to full eye candy.

The Intel HD on board video is an absolute sack of shit, no matter what anyone tells you.

Yeah, with some half-decent graphics, that computer would be perfect for gaming, at least if you are not a hardcore graphics fanatic. I have a 2007 budget computer and GTA runs for me, but only decently after my old graphics card died and I had to replace it. I never buy the best graphics ever, I just stick to the second cheapest model of the current series of my preferred brand, which was a GeForce GT430 at the time. Just get a cheap dedicated card and GTA should not pose any problem whatsoever.

Is that your friends spec or yours?

It's mine.

Missing textures, the walls and floors are invisible.

Then your problem is really the graphics. Intel HD (with exception of HD 4000 and Iris Pro) ain't capable of demanding gaming, such as GTA4.

So if you are interested, perhaps give us a price range at some point and an idea of what kind of card you want, your max resolution you'll want to play things on, and stuff like that. We'll try and help find a good card for your wallet and peace of mind :)

50-150 Bucks (I'm not rich)

I just need a card that can run GTA 4 and maybe Minecraft with higher graphics settings.
And also TF2.

As long as I can run things at about mid res, I'm good.

If youve got $50-$150 as your budget, youd be much better off with a HD7790. $129.99 on amazon i believe

http://www.amazon.com/HD7790-DC2OC-...ie=UTF8&qid=1388172842&sr=8-1&keywords=hd7790

That will run EVERYTHING you throw at it at mostly high - max settings if your just gaming in 720p with your i5 for now and probably even in the future (so long as you dont go up to 1080p, then you may struggle with some titles)

check out /r/buildapcsales now and then too if there's any specific deal/cost you'd prefer.

The only big thing to be cautious about is whether your PSU is shoddy enough for including a standalone GPU. Most modern computers will probably have a good-enough one included, but it couldn't hurt to check.

Since you don't seem too hardcore about what you want, you can probably dig pretty low on your price range and get great results.

I opened my build, and this is what I got from my PSU.

It's an Antec EarthWatts EA-650 (Max Watts 650)*
*It's a hand me down from my cousin's last build

So.....

I would get a Radeon HD 7870 over something like the 260x. it is only 50$ more than the 260x and is considerably faster.
the 7870 should allow you to run most games on high to max settings at 720p and still maintain at least 60fps .

Well if you want to go up 50$ by 50$, then you can say add another 50 and get a 280x :P
