no, you need emunand and the retail game because the type of saves pokemon XY use is not supported right now (not sure if emunand 7.0 has problems with retail games. it would work 100% ok on emunand 6.2-6.3).

yes, it shouldn't need it. only emunand 6.2-6.3 in classic mode (again, not sure about emunand 7.0).

I hava a question about gateway firmwares and saves, If i use fw 1.2 and saves a bunch of games, can i use those saves at later fw.s of gateway like 2.0? I want to use 1.2 till a stable version of 2.0 is released because of corrupted saves issue and i don't really want to lose my saves..

for most games you can. for me only bravely default overwrote the save file when moving firmware rest work fine.

Did Gateway 1.2 have any issues saving the game when quitting? 2.0b is not that reliable with saves. If 1.2 is better, does anybody have a link to the 1.2 software? I don't see it on the GW site.

By "4.x with spoof" do you mean having a 4.x 3ds using a higher version emuNAND?


It sounds like I need to wait until an emuNAND of the latest version comes out so I can download the patches and play online. is this correct?

I have recently acquired a red/black xl with firmware 4.4. I am currently ordering a gateway 3ds. So I was wondering what the first steps I should do is. I have not yet accepted the nintendo agreement with wireless and not set up a wireless system yet.

So I was wondering. The first thing I should do is to update the gateway 3ds to 2.0b1 right?

Then where do I go from there? Is there an instruction booklet or some steps I need to do to get everything working ( and backed up)?

He wanted to know how he can run a game that requires 4.5 when he is only on 4.4

The correct answer to this is "Don't do anything. Gateway does version spoofing and if the ROM requires 4.5 and the machine is only 4.4 it should run without any problems."

The correct answer to this is not "update the EmuNAND". While updating that won't hurt him (unless he messes up and updates the real one which certainly would hurt him), it won't make any difference for his question either.

If you are yet to receive your Gateway, give the team a couple of days so they can release their new launcher that is supposed to prevent tedious steps to update. After this new launcher comes out, users here will update the procedure to successfully update on emuNAND.

AFAIK to go online with Pokemon at present you need the 1.2 update, so if you have that it should run/play fine online with emuNAND 6.3
I think, the team will add additional checks when updating so it checks and doesnt update the NAND unless its redirected to the SD while in GW mode, this aswell as stopping the fallback to SystemNAND will solve all accidental updating problems

It was for diagnostics prior to the diagnostic GUI, it has different colors

Hardware Diagnostics sequence and LED colour meaning
 
Test 1. FPGA RED
Test 2. SPI write test YELLOW
Test 3. SPI read test TEAL
Test 4: SD
Blue = No valid SD data
White = Fat32 partition detected
Green = 3ds ROM header found (if you are still experiencing problems please download and write our GW_testrom
to your micro SD, for a full read test)
When GW_testrom is detected on the micro SD, LED will flash hue from blue to red depending on the detected
read speed, at the end of a full 1G successful read of the test file the LED should turn to constant Green.
 
If any test fails the diagnostics will halt on that test. (So if you start diagnostics and only see a constant RED,
this means the FPGA is faulty and you should contact your reseller for a replacement. Constant RED,
YELLOW or TEAL is idicative of a non user repairable fault)
