I don't know if Nintendo does this, but I think it would be hilarious if they crossreferenced permabans when getting in returns and decide "Nope, not replacing the system you wrecked on purpose" and just sent it back to you unfixed. Postage due.

Not sure but I HEARD that at least with a Wii they had a way of transferring your shop channel account from one Wii to the other. It would SUCK if after he actually gets them to replace it and everything they just transferred his ban over to the new console. LOL

Yeah they would probably know the ban by serial number and even if they could't do a transfer because the console was too dead they could easily transfer the ban to any replacement console.....

Don't sell it or anything (unless you make it clear before the sale that it is banned). Don't visit your misery on others. That would be a total dick move.

This. If you list it on eBay and say it's banned, that's one thing, but don't play dumb about it. But it's also for this reason that I never buy consoles on eBay unless they're fully hackable

I sold a PSN-banned PS3 to GameStop once. Do that, when they refurbish it they can get the ban lifted as mentioned in an earlier post - or if they don't, and someone buys it, they can just call Nintendo and say "uh, I bought this used and it's banned, wtf?" and chances are they'll be more willing to unban it.

Chances are they'd make him use a new NNID, at the very least. It might be believable if he were to wait a couple weeks before calling, that way it would be feasible that he sold it right after they refused to unban him, then someone else bought it. But yeah, if he did that himself and tried to use the same NNID they'd probably just realize he was scamming them and reban it.

I would be willing to bet they will want some sort of proof of purchase to prove you really did buy it used, if they even would unban the console.
my guess is that only GameStop can get it unbanned during the refurb process or after someone returns a console that was already banned and it is sent back to the refurb warehouse/center.

My brother is 13 and I wouldn't make him work for it. He offered but I said no. I don't blame him, I blame Nintendo for being Anal for stupid little kid nonsense. I am only mad at him for not telling me he was having issues online. (He isn't so social with strangers then he is with me and the family). He didn't understand that trolls exist.
