Also, doesn't matter if 'someone is faster', of course Reddit is faster, it's a massive site that is also aimed at providing news ASAP. Unlike GBAtemp which is about discussing gaming related things, not necessarily being the first one with news.

Very different, for example, you can update the hardware in your pc. This is not possible with the steambox i think.

No, actually it is. Steambox is basically a pre-built PC with SteamOS installed, so as long as your parts are compatible with it you can update it as much as you want.

Pretty much nothing. Steam Big Picture works same way and Valve still recommends Ubuntu on desktop use.

This has been discussed many times already but let me summ it up:
Think it from console gamer perspective or even parents perspective. You don't want to get messed up building PC, you know prebuild PC usually suck at gaming and you prefer sitting on couch anyway. Basically it's new competitor to console market which can do what linux PC can do.
From PC gamer perspective it's pretty neat device if your TV happens to be other corner of your house and you want to play games you already own from it. Of course it will be good HTPC and console replacement overall.

People ask for innovation--> Someone tries to be original and change the gaming ways--> People automatically dislike it because its out of their comfort zone--> Rewind.

As for me, I am very excited about the controller, and what it has to offer.

I really want to give the controller a try. It may be ugly, but it's supposed to have a lot more precision compared to console controllers.

At least I know it'll last for many a few years to come without needing to upgrade again, that and I enjoy playing PC games on an actual PC with a keyboard and mouse.
Still, I gotta admit, Steam sure knows how to present themselves, that's damn nice packaging.

As for me, I am very excited about the controller, and what it has to offer.

I don't really care it's ugly, my concern is how to play games with that controller; seems like the button layout looks weird to use for many game genres.
Overall, I am just skeptical, not discouraging innovation, specially since the dude in the video said it was a little weird to use.

Indeed, wouldn't want to trade my desktop (or laptop) for it.
(Hmmmm, the laptop would be something I could consider, but I could just as well build a briefcase pc ( http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?260157-Project-Portable-Desktop-!-Laptop ))

But I indeed guess this is more for parents or people who don't know how to build a proper pc :/

That guy is posting some new videos ...and the controller seems interesting. The touchpads seems to have some kind of sensor feedback too, as he pointed out on the end of his Metro's test play and his controller review
