Hacking Gateway 2.0 Beta Firmware RELEASED!

I have two original 3ds's to test emuNand with and one works better than the other (I have one red and the other black).

One thing I've noticed, when a hanging boot occurs, it does so after the gateway menu looks a little messed up in 3D. The right screen is grey with the time and coin info at the top and the left screen is the plain blue gateway logo screen. When things are working properly, both right and left screens have a blue background and it looks nice in 3D. I wonder if anybody else has this experience.

Fuck, mine looks like that now (grey and normal on 3D) and I'm backing up my NAND :S it's stuck on >>READING should I reset?

Im running Gateway classic mode and retail copy of pokemon Y and everytime i run the game it gives me a screen that my save data is corrupted

I wouldn't depend on on anything when the top screen is like that. I'm sure it means things aren't working right.

Thing is, with one 3ds it does it about 50% of the time and the other that only happened once.

Hold L and then press the Nintendo DS Profile Setting while still holding L.

Thanks, this fixed my issue!
First I tried to hold L, but my 3DS froze. After a reboot, I tried it again and it worked.

So anyone that have the grey lines error when starting GW Mode, try reboot your 3DS and hold L button while entering DS Profile.

This sucks. I have to reset after doing a second attempt to boot the GUI with the right 3D display. It stucks on a grey screen while the background music keeps playing, even in 3D both screens look grey.

Also, I can't boot the GUI without the different screens issue while using the 3D screens.

this thing is not working at alll for me i cant even get regular GW mode , the red card never works i had gw 1. 2 working on my 3ds no problems , now i just tried to use gw 2.0 on a fresh out of the box 4.4 3ds xl and i cant get any of it to work

after you hit the ds profile thing what are supposed to do?
press home? or press a o shut it down and reboot it?

and what about online play in eshop tittles downloaded in the emuNAND? i know the question is a littleadvanced for a firmware released 4 hours ago.
But there should be online play in eshop tittles, right?

I'm starting to have better luck with the troublesome system now. What I did was change the SD card (inside system) and copying my backup to it. Then I reinstalled my DS mode hack.

So far the top screen is looking normal and I'm having successful boots. Haven't tested the emunand update procedure yet but the 4.5 emunand is working fine.

My stupid extremely cheap chinese SD reader corrupted my SD card and my 3DS files now are lost. I backed up the RAW data if someone knows how to recover the 3DS files that doesn't have extension files.

About the 3D issue, apparently I got it working now but only works if I boot the GUI having the 3D mode activated. If I boot it on 2D and then change the slider to 3D, the dual grey and blue screen issue occurs.

I've noticed that DS carts, DSiWare, and GBA ambassador titles don't work with emunand. Classic mode, nor Gateway mode. They all worked after going back to 4.5, and it seems to remember my downloads, but the DSiWare has to be copied to the SD card and back onto the 4.5 system.
Though, I can't seem to get the Youtube app to work either. It boots, and it lets me access the home menu, but it doesn't do anything itself.

Ok. I just shot the videos, but there are a couple things of note before the video gets edited and goes up:

1. System Transfer DOES NOT WORK. It will kick you back to 4.5 just as stated earlier in this thread. You can access the eShop and buy from it and download, but transferring is a no-go.

2. For all of you having problems with freezing going into Gateway mode as I did, I found that you are REQUIRED now to hold down the L button when selecting "Nintendo DS Profile". If you just do it the old way, it will not go any further. Also, you will NEED the Gateway cartridge in the system to boot into Gateway mode. I'm sure that's the "anti-clone" we rumored about.

3. Really important, so this is going to be in bold:

UNLESS YOU ARE DUMPING YOUR CARTS, DO NOT USE YOUR PHYSICAL CARTRIDGES ON THERE! YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR SAVE DATA ON THE CART!

I put this in all bold and big because this is a major problem! Luckily for me, I did it with a cart that I'm just going to play again because now I can play it in 3D instead of 2D on my 2DS(Zelda: A Link Between Worlds). When I put the Zelda in to test if it can run physical copies in classic (normal) mode, I found that my save data was mysteriously missing, even though I was right at the Dark Castle (the last one I had to beat). I thought it was an issue with Gateway reading the save on the cart, but sure enough, when I popped it into my 2DS, there was no saves present. My saves were erased off the cartridge.

So, I'm editing it now, but I'm telling you all and warning you of this issue.

I think you're right about that. I'm still having hangs although they're not as often as before.
Its possible the GW is really picky about the card you use but who knows.

But, trying to argue with my on that is just like this:

Its been acknowledged that the sd card holding the launcher can be the problem, especially if it suffers fragmentation, all the people with issues, backup sd contents, format it and recopy back whats needed, if you havent backed up nand or done the format emunand setup, all that is needed is the launcher as your card will be wiped again anyway, once you have emunand setup, you dont really need to use the Gui and can just click ds profile to enter GW mode

Have you tested other games besides Zelda ?? The NAND games work fine with no loss and i see no additional reports of loss of save data, apart from a user getting the save data corruption message you get trying to run them in GW mode, so not 100% sure they where in classic mode

oh great i lost 4.4. i followed the steps and backed up the nand and now its at stock 6.3 so am i screwed or not because if i am my aqua 3ds is going to find a new home

ok so quick question i am formatting the sd emu nand right now
so when i go to update(brand new 3ds xl out of the box ,never set up internet connection)

do i set up the internet connection settings on the emu nand only , the real nand only , or both? in order to do online update?

if you install physical 4 wire nand read/write you will be able to restore your NAND backup gateway made
